I wish teams had to publicize insurance details on contracts, very curious to know what the actual cost to the oilmen/ghouls who own the Rangers will be.

They aren’t insured on his contract cos of the risk.

And yes, that was their announcement yesterday - the 60 day move was retroactive to free up a roster spot so he could have been reactivated no differently from the original 15-day stint.

So I don't really get this:

Tampa Bay: Pythagorean W-L 47-21, 391 Runs, 251 Runs Allowed
Texas: Pythagorean W-L 45-19, 400 Runs, 251 Runs Allowed

I always thought your Pythagorean was simply based on run differential, regardless of competition or any other factor.

TBR: (391-251)/68 = 5.75-3.69 = 2.06 mean run differential
TXR: (400-251)/64 = 6.25-3.92 = 2.33 mean run differential

I get it now--I was just looking at the wins and stupidly assumed they'd played the same number of games.

I guess you could, though, if you really wanted to get into the weeds, add a strength-of-schedule component to any Pythagorean calculation (and I think Baseball Reference's is slightly different than the one James came up with 40 years ago).

most of Joc’s negative value was incurred during the first two months of the year, he missed time with injury and has been grinding his way back
Jake Burger has been on and off the IL all season
I have no idea what’s going on with Evan Carter.
Also Joc had an OPS over 900 in August over 24 games. Really sick of people not looking at splits
