According to the websites that keep track of players (! - there are some hardcore fans - www.dlfans.com), I don't like to platoon and I don't make a lot of major player moves barring injury. I save my money for big purchases

My Baker Bowl team that won the World Series after going 91-71 during the season
the number after is their salary

C/DH - Joe Torre .275, 19HR, 85 RBI - 4.4mln

1B - Ron Fairly - .275/32/98 - 1.9mln

2B - Joe Morgan - .283/25/76 - 6.1mln (I screwed up there, I really would have whipped some ass with another three or four million elsewhere)

3B - Darrell Evans - .241/34/106 (Bill James is big on Evans because his OBP and Slugging were high) - 4.7mln

important Pitching Staff - you need 18 starts a week, I tried 6 three-start pitchers because they're cheaper and could work as relievers at other times.

LHS - Lefty Grove 10-2, 3.53 (late acquisition) - 6mln
Watty Clark - 10-7, 3.63, 5/5 saves - 1.8mln
Ken Raffensberger - 11-8, 3.31, 1/1

Closer - Dave Schmidt - 9-4, 3.34, 18/26
