Adapted from a popular ILX thread; in baseball terms, still playing more or less equals still alive.
Timelines on this will vary for everyone. I don't track players once they leave the Jays, and five years for me can seem like two decades. So when I saw Randal Grichuk on the front page of mlb.com today (3-run homer for the Diamondbacks), my response was "Randal Grichuk is still playing?" And when I looked him up, was amazed that he was still with the Jays in 2021--feels much more distant than that.

Rich Hill pitched an inning and a third the other day!

Let me put it another way: Rich Hill, a man who pitched against Tino Martinez, pitched an inning and a third the other day

Yeah I hate this signing. NESN tweeted this similar point the other day.
4th stint with the Sox for Rich Hill! (8 if we're splitting hairs.) Fun fact: When Hill was drafted in 1999, Triston Casas, Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu weren't even born. pic.twitter.com/hKDYgUZPC9— NESN (@NESN) August 27, 2024

I knew people would come up with better examples than Randal Grichuk (which is better classified as "I'm surprised you're surprised he's still playing").

Rich Hill has one more team to catch Edwin Jackson (14).

Tried Rich Hill on Immaculate Grid today, and of course managed to find someone he didn't play for.

Justin Turner.
(I knew I'd started a thread for this...)
