I assume you mean hitting-only and Ohtani not pitching. If everyone's 100% healthy, Stanton included, I'd probably go for the three Yankees. If Ohtnai's pitching, of course the three Dodgers.

The way things are right this minute, the three Yankees, only because Stanton seems more functional than Freeman.

Freeman's 2024 postseason OPS (.442) is almost as high as Soto's OBP (.439)... but Volpe's is higher (.459)

but how many games did freeman actually play in compared to stanton?

Just out of curiosity, totalled each group's WAR/162 games (no pitching WAR for Ohtani), then divided by three--so pro-rated for injuries, but not weighted by AB:

Judge/Soto/Stanton - 6.4
Ohtani/Betts/Freeman - 6.1

Freeman has an .848 OPS in his postseason career with ten HR. He's a future HOFer, that's the guy you're getting (if he's healthy).

Judge is jusr 5-for-31 in the playoffs this year (but with two HR), but he's still Aaron Judge.

Thought so. So my intuitive feeling--slight edge to Yankees--is matched by the numbers above. The difference is MVP-level Stanton instead of albatross-contract Stanton.

TIL Stanton is still playing! I had no idea Stanton was still in the leagues, I thought he'd retired.

He played a few games in April and has been out for 4 months with a... calf strain? Seems serious, more like a calf muscle tear? Complete rupture?

he is literally immobile and has been on the IL pretty much all season. He has no position besides DH and there's a young cat (Rice) who is presently the DH and 1B and there is another cat (Judge) who will likely have to DH for a good long while and probably should be a fulltime DH when he gets back. the fact that they haven't just released him is proof that the NYY front office has no idea how much money they have

I think I saw a quick glimpse of him in the dugout during the Saturday Braves game. Has to be a stultifying existence, going to work every day to watch a game you can’t play in.
