checking in on year seven of the sig/elias era...will grayson rodriguez...? is this the year for jackson holliday? samuel basallo? were the '24 second half struggles of adley rutschman and gunnar henderson areas of concern or blips on the radar? can you handle the return of felix bautista? can the league?

we shall see, friends. we shall see.

Better rotation than NYY at this point

That feels disrespectful to Max Fried, as the Orioles don’t have that number one or could be a number one type guy arm

*atm though arm works too

rodriguez and bradish have number one guy type stuff, but can you keep them healthy? can you make a run w/ a bunch of durable, mid level guys? i dunno.

one month passes...

giving away a bobblehead of the owner is really incredible

i genuinely think if steve cohen did it people would think it funny and if jerry jones did it the response would be huge. it just depends on which billionaire asshole you are, i guess.

i think he sort of misjudged the excitement over the ownership change. a relatively quiet offseason coming off a disappointing postseason didn't help matters.

how many owner bobblehead promotions have there ever been? the entire idea is fantastic, and an incredible insight into MLB ownership and what fealty it thinks it is owed

giving away a steve cohen bobblehead might be fine at first because he does spend hella money, but remains awkward even before you factor in him saying something terrible on twitter

giving away a bob nutting bobblehead would be a disco sucks-level disaster -- if anyone actually came to the park for it -- but at least he knows that and would never do it

the idea of a first-year owner who spent almost nothing in free agency doing it is *choice* tho

the orioles and nats finally settled their masn dispute this year and (strategically?) the o's announced a direct to consumer streaming service after the easter sunday massacre. even if the on field product isn't quite up to par, i'd rather pay $17 per momnth for the privilege of making that determination than the $80+ i have to shell out for cable or dtv/fubo streaming services.

two weeks pass...

this team not too good huh

JoeStork, Thursday, 8 May 2025 23:22 (one month ago)

What the hell's going on there? The Jays are even ahead of them. Is karma punishing them because of a cautious off-season? (No--lousy starting pitching and slow starts by the two franchise guys, says a quick look at BRef.)

feel like time may be running short for brandon hyde

mookieproof, Thursday, 15 May 2025 20:17 (one month ago)

and so it has

mookieproof, Saturday, 17 May 2025 16:53 (one month ago)

Even with a cheap-o offseason, they should have been doing better

FRAUDULENT STEAKS (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Saturday, 17 May 2025 18:16 (one month ago)

they should absolutely be hitting better but i don't think it's possible to succeed with this rotation

only two starters are above replacement level, and *they* only strike out 5 per nine innings

mookieproof, Saturday, 17 May 2025 18:54 (one month ago)

and kyle gibson just gave up six runs in two-thirds of an inning, jeez

mookieproof, Saturday, 17 May 2025 20:33 (one month ago)

Ryan Mountcastle just stole home...

and hurt his hamstring in the process...

poor birdies.
