Been talking baseball with a guy in my tennis club, a few years older than me, who grew up a Tigers fan living in Chatham. He was there in '68 when McLain won his 30th. Attendance: 33,688.

Not a guy who would make something like that up (there's another guy in my club who actually would...). Of course his mom, along with a lot of baseball cards, threw away the program (scored) and ticket stub he'd saved from the game.

When I was little, my dad and one of my uncles gave me a ball with the "autographs" of '68 champ Ray Oyler (.135/.213/.186) and other '60s Tiger greats like Steve "Sgt." Bilko and (iIrc) Coot Veal. If I do start a 1968 Tigers thread, I'll have to dig up the ball, post a pic, and make you all envious.
