Sheff holds this honor in my baseball universe: I've never seen anyone hit a line drive harder than this guy. He is a menace.
Though . . . it was a delight watching him go pffft in the nlds last year.

In a related note, you have to wonder about the conflict of interest of the wealthist team in baseball are getting one of the best available players from a club owned by the league. That is a screwed up situation.

I will be very suprised if Sheffield works out with the Yankees. He might play ok, but I think the Yanks would be better served just getting a more low key player. If they are stinkin', Sheff won't help matters, remember how he freaked out in LA. Atl and Florida are chilled out, the press and the fans were never going to get his goat.
Vlad would be a better choice, might cost a few more bucks, but on a team with a couple more established stars all he has to do is show up and play well.
Of course, the year it really all falls apart for the Yanquis, it isn't going to be pretty for anyone involved. Their expectations are just too high these days.

Wake up players, the 80s are OVER. The greed between the players and owners hasn't quite killed the golden calf, but it is pretty tarnished.
As a player, when he is healthy, Sheff delivers. He is just another too rich, too young player that seems to think the world revolves around him. If he was a star WR in the NFL, he would probably be considered a "gamer" compared to Keyshawn or Owens.
Everett seems to be on another plane of wacky.

His leaving Florida was management dumping payroll and he seemed to work out pretty well in Atlanta. Other than wanting more cash, I don't know why he wants out so bad.
