Frisco Rough Riders

So I made it out to a Frisco Rough Riders game last night. For those who don't know,Frisco is located about 30 minutes north of Dallas and is the home of the Texas Rangers' AA affiliate. Frisco got beat by the Wichita Wranglers 11-2, but the highlights of the game were two (TWO!!!) bench-clearing brawls. Trouble started in the 2nd inning when a Wichita player hit a solo home run and the next batter was promptly plunked. Wichitas's manager had a short discussion with the home plate ump, which leads me to believe that there was already trouble brewing from a previous game. Wichita had built a 6-1 lead by the 6th inning when another Wranglers batter got dotted up around the shoulders. The pitcher was immediately ejected and the batter made a sprint to the mound and at full speed put a perfect form-tackle on the pitcher. Benches empties and all hell broke loose. The umpires got everything calmed down and made their ejections and play resumed. Then two innings later a Frisco batter got hit in the thigh and it all started up again. This time, the pitcher did not get tossed. It didn't look to me like he was intentionally throwing at the guy and I guess the umpires thought the same way.

The next half-inning, Wichita put up a 5-spot that included a grand slam to put things out of reach. A funny thing happened because of the brawls and ejections. Apparently, Wichita's DH got ejected, so their relief pitcher got an at-bat in the 9th with the bases loaded. The guy put up a good fight, fouling off a few pitches before driving in a run with an infield single.

Minor league ball rocks!

I can't believe it took you so long! When are you moving again?

Moving on Friday.

I did go to one game last year, too. A playoff game, no less. But I even managed to have a date for this one. She wanted to go to a Rangers game, but since they are in Detroit this week, we went to a Frisco game instead. The girl is pretty knowledgeable about the game, plus she put away a hot dog, half a pizza, nachos and two Dr. Peppers. Maybe I should lock her in to a long-term deal. Too bad I'm moving.

four years pass...

This is not about baseball.
What is a good 1) Texas steakhouse in Frisco? 2) Mexican restaurant?

We'll be there for one day/night.

You know what's crazy... I've been to Frisco like 5 times and I can't remember eating anything notable except for when I drove in to Dallas to hang with boldbury or eating at my friend's mom's house for killer Vietnamese home cooking.
