I'm sure most of you heard about this by now, but I wanted to pay tribute to a fine man and an excellent colour analyst.
To my knowledge, there aren't any other Toronto-area fans posting here, so perhaps nobody other than me ever heard him in the booth. When he started a few years ago he was shaky, but he blossomed into a confident, but never arrogant analyst, developed impeccable timing with his comments, and was one of the most insightful TV commentators I've ever heard on Blue Jays telecasts.
All that might seem a bit pedantic in light of his passing, but I will miss his work very much. And my deepest sympathies are with his friends and family.

That's horrible.

He had a couple good years in the late '80s, didn't he? (I'm pretty sure I saw him pitch at some point.) Bounced between starter and relief? He was a Tiger briefly as well.

There's me, david.
I considered starting a thread about this but thought no one would know or care, really. Again my theory is confirmed: if I think about starting a thread, but decide to wait, within 2 days the thread is started by someone else.

Cerutti's death came so completely unexpectedly - I saw him on the TV just last week and he looked fine. I mean he was ONLY 44! Last I heard it was natural causes - I've not heard what exactly happened though (I blame the J's record this season for doing him in).
He was a helluva broadcaster, he gave the J's some good years and was very much liked and respected. He will be missed.
