I did it! I was confused @ first as to why they only totaled at the ML level, & not at the league level, but then I remembered interleague play. My predictions are totally bonkers, tho I don't have any team winning more than 95.

Also, if I can win TWO Bud Selig photos, my life will be complete.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 4 April 2005 12:41 (twenty years ago)

I have only the Red Sox and Cards at 95+ wins.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Monday, 4 April 2005 13:31 (twenty years ago)

Lord help me, I think I picked the Cubs for 90+ over the Cards. Damn you, Dusty.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 4 April 2005 13:33 (twenty years ago)

I spent a long time doing this, and then hit submit, at which point my browser crashed. I was NOT going to do it over.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Monday, 4 April 2005 14:23 (twenty years ago)

The deadline for entries is midnight tonight.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Friday, 8 April 2005 18:53 (twenty years ago)

My entry below. (Yeah, I can already see some no-hopers; I might flip the Rockies' and Nationals' records.) Yours, Raposox?

Note: '

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 12:32 (twenty years ago)

You got donged by using a greater than or less than sign, didn't you?

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 12:44 (twenty years ago)

So, the dealie - you start w/ 1000 points. Any error above OR below what you predict is minus 1 point per game. You gotta be RIGHT; this ain't no Price Is Right shit.

FYI: here's info on the {MORTAL LOCK} - "In each league, you must pick one team that you designate as your Mortal Lock. This difference between this team's actual number of victories and your prediction will count double against you. For example, if you pick the Dodgers to win 95 games and they only win 82, you will lose 26 points instead of 13. Important: You must designate as your mortal lock a team you are predicting to win either 90 or more games or 72 or fewer games."

With many apologies to all Brewers fans & anyone who thinks I actually gave this much thought, & none at all to you Yankee lovin' bastids:

That said, Danny Kolb is a rat bastard, and I hope he loses his closer job to a lamprey.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 12:55 (twenty years ago)

&, Morb, if you want the less-than signs to print, you have to change them to [ampersand]LT[semi-colon], like so: <<<

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 13:05 (twenty years ago)

Oh, yeah - of course, the BoSox are my AL MORTAL LOCK. Really, I'm not a homer. Really.

Your NL Lock is looking MUCH better than mine, Morb.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 13:08 (twenty years ago)

Morbs, why did you take Minnesota as your Mortal Lock instead of Boston?
Helluva ballsy move, since you're predicting them to win only 93.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 13:32 (twenty years ago)

I can see the Red Sox winning anywhere from 92 to 102, depending on Wells' and Schilling's health/aging. The Twins have done 94/90/92 the last 3 years, why stop now, with The Best Pitcher in Baseball?

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 14:14 (twenty years ago)

one month passes...
The standings are up! I'm a hair outta the top third at #365:

http://www.baseballprospectus.com/pt/index.php?allscores

David, where you?

As with almost all entrants, the White Sox and A's are killing me, but I may really regret putting Washington at 62 wins.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:02 (twenty years ago)

I'm projected for 636, which is good for #1064. The White Sox, the A's, and the Nats are killing me. My best picks so far: the D-Rays (only 2 off!), the Tiggers, and the Yanquis.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 9 June 2005 00:59 (twenty years ago)

Of the 12 Prospectus staff members who are playing, I'm outpointing 11 of em! :o

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 9 June 2005 17:53 (twenty years ago)

four weeks pass...
I'm down to #407! Should've picked some of those cellar dwellers for 105 losses... Have no idea who's hurt methe most in the last month, especially since the A's have risen and the D-backs swooned.

I spy David R rising to #1045.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 7 July 2005 18:13 (twenty years ago)

Yet another update; I'm down to #495!

David R, your NL mortal lock is killing you.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 18:11 (twenty years ago)

I bounced up to #427. The leaders are generally ppl who had the Chisox and Nats at at least .500.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Friday, 22 July 2005 19:45 (twenty years ago)

If the Chisox win less than 9 games the rest of the season, I am GOOD!

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 22 July 2005 20:11 (twenty years ago)

two weeks pass...
Well, I'm all caught up re the A's -- I forecast 92 wins -- but now MY mortal lock (Twins!) is hurting me worse than the Nationals are... But I am up to a season high at #378 as all the teams I expected to be mediocre cluster around .500.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 16:13 (twenty years ago)

one month passes...
Since we both finished in the bottom half of the standings, I can only console myself with outpointing David R 786-751. Twins as my AL Mortal Lock killed me, along with the Dodgers.

Only teams whose win totals I nailed exactly: Blue Jays and Phillies.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Monday, 3 October 2005 16:29 (twenty years ago)

I got ANA (sorry, LAA) and TEX spot-on. The Nats & Dodgs were my bete noirs. Or betes noir. In other words, they fucked me. AND I got every single playoff placement wrong, on top of only getting 2 of the 8 playoff contenders right.

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 3 October 2005 16:36 (twenty years ago)
