What's a good section to get tickets for at Shea?

I'd say mezzanine behind home or along the lines. You'll be two decks up but it feels a hell of a lot closer than the outfield bleachers. Get "loge level" if you can afford it.

And there's always the subway ramp from the 7 train, which is kind of like a Grateful Dead parking lot. In a good way!

My favorite spot in recent years has been the upper deck boxes right behind home, priced on a sliding scale from $19-27. No bloody vendors or standing teen morons blocking your view, and you're close enough.

Of course, for this year's Value games (next: Indians in mid-June), you can sit just a little further back in the Upper Reserved for $5.

How impossible would it be to get tickets for next Saturdays' game vs. the Yanquis? What are the asking prices for anything reasonable?

Not impossible if you ordered a 6-pack in February like I did! No idea on the broker/scalper range; some of the bids on Stubhub.com are currently $30-40 each... You in town for that weekend, gax?

I'm in town but there's an outside chance I can get to the park (romance, art shows, etc.). I'm staying in Brooklyn so it would seem that the game wouldn't be too much hassle/timeconstraint but the more I think about it, the more I realize the unlikelyhood.

if you bring an old hat and are one of the first 5,000 fans to that game, you get a new blue mets hat. also, if it's north brooklyn, g to the 7 is quick n' easy.

well if it's park slope or boerum hill or any other neighborhood off the F, you can take the F to the G at Smith-9th Street, then transfer, then take that to the 7. It's not really that hard.

Lamest promotion of the year?

Monday, August 15th marks the 40th anniversary of the Beatles' historic concert at Shea Stadium, so prior to the game on Tuesday, the Beatles tribute band Strawberry Fields will recreate the 1965 event with a pre-game concert. The group will perform several Beatles favorites, including "Twist and Shout," "Ticket to Ride," and "A Hard Day's Night" prior to the 7:10 p.m. game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

OTOH, Saturday is Hispanic Night -- looks like Pedro vs Livan!
