AL OBP leaders

I'm not sure what this means, if anything -- but I just noticed that as of today, 11 of the top 16 AL leaders in OBP are Yankees/Red Sox. That seems like an overwhelmingly weird statistic -- are those teams really that much better offensively than the rest of their league?

Yankee telecast a couple weeks ago mentioned Giambi and A-Rod being 1-2 in league OBP, and that the last pinstriped pair to manage that was Gehrig & DiMag. I'm sure a couple oldtimers keeled over on that one.
