WOT, NO LOV FOR JEREMY ACCARDO?

Wolfcastleee (Leee), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 01:35 (twenty years ago)

Jeff Francis' 2005 stats:

ERA: 5.68
WHIP: 1.62
BAA: .311

So.... I know what you're thinking: Coors, thin air, etc.

Away ERA: 6.40
Away WHIP: 1.71
BAA: .313

Would anyone like to explain the sole 2nd place vote? I mean, is BHK going to receive any votes for Cy Young?

Woody Paige's Ballot

1 Atkins
2 Francis
3 Barmes

Some at BP think that they should trade Howard now, as he's not real young and can bring plenty.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:30 (twenty years ago)

He's easier to move than Thome, that's for sure. And a team like the Red Sox or Cleveland (maybe?) could compensate them nicely. (Maybe the Mets could, too, but I doubt they'd want to keep him in the same division.)

Earl, is that really Woody's ballot? Plz say "yes."

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 8 November 2005 15:39 (twenty years ago)

If that is not Woody's ballot, it is some other Denver homer sportswriter that voted that way.

three years pass...

Nick (Long Island, NY): I dislike the Phillies as much as anyone, but how can you say 'not even close' when it comes to A Gonzalez and Howard, yet Ryan Howard is looked upon as the 'better' player in the world of baseball. Is this the problem of glorifying home runs or are you just smarter than everyone else?

SportsNation Keith Law: (1:51 PM ET ) It's glorifying home runs, ignoring his futility against lefties, ignoring his horrid defense (and Gonzalez' excellent defense), ignoring his body and the direction it's likely to go in the next few years, and yes, I am just smarter than everyone else.
