RFI: Trashy Baseball Autobiographies

I love me some tawdry tales penned by celebs (just ask the staff at Fez). Previously I have limited myself to actors and musicians, but surely there must be some trashy ones written by athletes.

So last week I found one in the 40 cent bin at the Strand: "Joe, You Coulda made Us Proud" by Joe Pepitone. On a whim I bought and boy, is it paydirt. It is sooooo dirty.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I've never read it, but David Wells' autobio pissed off a lot of the right people, though ironically at his own expense.

Ball Four, Ball Four, Ball Four, Ball Four

(Jim Bouton's memoir from his season with the Seattle Pilots expansion team, great stuff about coming up with the Yankees in the early '60s before blowing his arm out and becoming a knuckleballer.)

one month passes...
The Ticked Out about Strawberry's high school team. Not really trashy or autobiographical judging from the review I read, but it seems to be well received. What think you all?

I was in that old used bookstore on broadway in north beach in the super secret upstairs level and found rick dempsey's autobiography ("a laugh a minute") but i forgot to buy it ($.99).

(Alas, the Ramapo Catskill library system does not carry Hardball)

One of the most profane is supposed to be Lenny Dykstra's "Nails."
