Thursday is being billed as PEDRO's OPENING NIGHT at Shea. Good $5 upper deck seats (sec. 6) currently available. If the forecast looks good on Monday I'd like to get tix.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Saturday, 1 April 2006 16:18 (nineteen years ago)

i might be down for that. lemme know.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 3 April 2006 14:43 (nineteen years ago)

OK ... Thursday looks like the best day of a shitty week weatherwise right now, but a high temp of 56 doesn't look all that good for a night game. Let's wait n see -- Fri vs Marlins could work too (sans Pedro unless there are rainouts).

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Monday, 3 April 2006 14:50 (nineteen years ago)

would anybody be interested in yankees v. a's in mid-may?

i actually have no idea what it's like getting tickets for games at yankee stadium.

jonathan quayle higgins (j.q. higgins), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 12:30 (nineteen years ago)

What it's like is shittily expensive. Being a weekend in mid-May, and assuming we'd be going for the Tier Reserve (nosebleed) for $20, a Ticketmaster search yields Row K in sec. 18 (third base).

http://www.ticketmaster.com/seatingchart/237572/15051

But I would go.

As for Mets tomorrow, weather.com currently says 54 F with 14mph winds for 7pm... what do you think, stenc?

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 13:57 (nineteen years ago)

i'm getting way ahead of things here as the season doesn't start until June..

but i would be down for meeting some of you ILBers for boardwalk beers and a Cyclones game sometime this summer.

jinx hijinks (sanskrit), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 14:06 (nineteen years ago)

dude, it's SNOWING rite now. i don't think i'm gonna go tomorrow.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 14:17 (nineteen years ago)

Spring is changeable, bubby!

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 14:32 (nineteen years ago)

for sure on Cyclones (tho I find their earsplitting nonstop 'entertainment' abominable) ... maybe Carl Erskine will play the harmonica again thisseason.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 14:58 (nineteen years ago)

this is winter, bubbly.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 5 April 2006 15:00 (nineteen years ago)

Fri & Sat are busy for me, but any heathens care for Mets-Brewers action on Easter? A 'bronze' game for $9 upstairs, Phenom Bannister scheduled vs rehabbed Sheets. Weather looks sunny in low 60s.

(as a bonus I will wear my Industriales de Habana jersey)

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 15:59 (nineteen years ago)

i could do it if i'm not too hungover.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 17:38 (nineteen years ago)

There's a wide lapel to pin my hopes on.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 18:13 (nineteen years ago)

love the idea morbs but my folks are in town. soon though!

Jams Murphy (ystrickler), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 18:24 (nineteen years ago)

Coincidence of coincidence: I'll actually be @ that game (w/ roomy & his girl), but we'll be sitting in a $38 section of town. However, we ended up w/ 4 tickets (thanks to Ticketmaster), so if you're interested in dropping the buxx for this ticket (& it's still available), let me know.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 18:42 (nineteen years ago)

thanks DR! I'll let you know soon, maybe right after I do my taxes.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 12 April 2006 19:01 (nineteen years ago)

Rapozer, chk yr gmail.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 13 April 2006 15:41 (nineteen years ago)

Will do once I get homer!

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 13 April 2006 15:42 (nineteen years ago)

i may have four free tickets to saturday's game!!!!

developing...

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 13 April 2006 18:12 (nineteen years ago)

More sirens plz.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 13 April 2006 18:18 (nineteen years ago)

nevermind, it's not happening. crummy lawyers.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 13 April 2006 18:20 (nineteen years ago)

They'll get all the seats at Wilppets Field too!

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 13 April 2006 18:34 (nineteen years ago)

there's a M@tad0r box?!

jinx hijinks (sanskrit), Friday, 14 April 2006 18:56 (nineteen years ago)

no, tho there should be.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 14 April 2006 19:02 (nineteen years ago)

Jams possibly stuck at work -- anyone else? 66 degrees and Zambrano with a makeshift outfield!

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 18 April 2006 18:51 (nineteen years ago)

i'm going, already have ticket.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 18 April 2006 19:11 (nineteen years ago)

Mets fans don't let Mets fans attend Zambrano starts.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 19 April 2006 12:10 (nineteen years ago)

were you there, morbs? a mets fan from texas was my ticket source.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 19 April 2006 14:38 (nineteen years ago)

I was home, and able to flick away to Sheriff Unit getting battered in TO.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 19 April 2006 14:40 (nineteen years ago)

haha stence. did you go with him? fuck one zambrano!

Jams Murphy (ystrickler), Wednesday, 19 April 2006 14:52 (nineteen years ago)

naw i went with g3rard. good times, despite the loss.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 19 April 2006 15:44 (nineteen years ago)

Tell him to come back to ILB.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 19 April 2006 16:03 (nineteen years ago)

Next scheduled Pedro start at Shea: next Wed, a VALUE game vs the Pirates. You know you must!

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 27 April 2006 15:27 (nineteen years ago)

tomw nite:

PEDRO $5 gametime temp:68 degrees

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 16:04 (nineteen years ago)

if you get me a ticket, i'll go.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 2 May 2006 17:17 (nineteen years ago)

What is this "a few showers" crap suddenly?! Given that I already have tix for Friday, I think I'm gonna pass, sorry. Besides i have to finish Mike Leigh's Naked DVD, and stenc prolly has 3 Pirates on his roto team.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 12:37 (nineteen years ago)

ok no sweat, i prolly shouldn't leave work early today anyway.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 3 May 2006 15:23 (nineteen years ago)

three weeks pass...
I never learn, so... Arizona coming in for three starting Monday, all "value" games. How about Wed. night? Barring any rotation disruptions, it should be PEDRO v. WEBB! $5!

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Friday, 26 May 2006 15:24 (nineteen years ago)

i could maybe make that, i dunno.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 26 May 2006 17:01 (nineteen years ago)

ka-BUMP
chk yr email

(let's not involve Will Call, we could meet at a specific row in the upp res if nec)

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 16:57 (nineteen years ago)

i don't think i can go. broeker than i thot. :(

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 30 May 2006 20:46 (nineteen years ago)

Nice duel.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 1 June 2006 00:21 (nineteen years ago)

I recommend sitting toward the back of loge Sec. 17 for any weekend non-sellout at Shea, whatever yr ticket says. Perfect view of the pitcher from behind first base, and the ushers won't goon you out of the seats if the back rows are empty.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 1 June 2006 12:38 (nineteen years ago)

If ... IF ... I was to yield to the temptation to pay $19 to sit upstairs in The House That George Will Raze this year, it'd be this weekend when Harden, Haren, and Ziro pitch vs the Evil Ones. Anyone similarly inclined? (wd lean twd Zito on Sunday)

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 12:42 (nineteen years ago)

speaking of which, i'd like to go pre-razing. i've only been once when i was much smaller and sat nosebleed. which seems to be what's still available for most games this year. do i want to brave the bleachers as a total baseball moran?

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 19:58 (nineteen years ago)

new shea answers also welcome

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 19:59 (nineteen years ago)

I've heard morans live to tell the tale.

Old Shea at least has budget seats. (last Value series of the year, vs Cinci in 2 weeks)

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 20:02 (nineteen years ago)

are the bleachers preferable to nosebleed?

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 20:21 (nineteen years ago)

I guess it depends on your tolerance of troglodytes (I've never sat with the Creatures). Maybe you can talk up John Warner!

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 6 June 2006 20:29 (nineteen years ago)

Kurt Warner, you mean

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 00:43 (nineteen years ago)

They'd prefer either over Mr. Horseyface.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 12:16 (nineteen years ago)

Reds-Mets next week, last value prices of the season, bla bla bla...

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 15 June 2006 13:10 (nineteen years ago)

srsly up for that. we haven't been to a game yet, morbs!

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 15 June 2006 13:56 (nineteen years ago)

I'm living in Brooklyn now and would like to catch a game asap, but weekends will probably be my only chance in the next month or so.

mattbot (mattbot), Thursday, 15 June 2006 14:17 (nineteen years ago)

I'd really like to see a Cyclones game too, but I guess their season doesn't start for a few days yet.

mattbot (mattbot), Thursday, 15 June 2006 14:21 (nineteen years ago)

mattbot is in brooklyn! wow! we definitely have to meet up, dude!

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 15 June 2006 15:41 (nineteen years ago)

Cyclones open next Tuesday (I can't get there til mid-July):

http://brooklyncyclones.com/tickets/schedule/

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 15 June 2006 15:58 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah definitely! Looking forward to meeting lots of screennames.

mattbot (mattbot), Thursday, 15 June 2006 17:49 (nineteen years ago)

dude do you forget gabe's, iowa city, three years ago?!?!?!?

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 15 June 2006 18:33 (nineteen years ago)

Oh no of course not, I meant meeting the other NYCers on here! I miss Gabe's, I heard a nasty rumor a little while back that they were shutting down.

mattbot (mattbot), Thursday, 15 June 2006 18:50 (nineteen years ago)

Anyone interested in coming to the Mets game Saturday? We have a small quorum and upper deack seats!

felicity (felicity), Friday, 16 June 2006 13:33 (nineteen years ago)

A quorum, you say? Perhaps I might! I will hit you with the e-mail Nerf bat momentarily.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 16 June 2006 13:52 (nineteen years ago)

I'll be @Laurie Anderson in Prospect Park. (Those must be distant uppdeck, it looked nearly sold out.)

For the Reds, I'll need to check with the non-ILB friend I invited, but I'm leaning toward Monday (when Bronson Pinchot/Arroyo pitches) or Wednesday.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Friday, 16 June 2006 13:53 (nineteen years ago)

Saturday might work, let me do some checking with the lady. What section/deck is everyone in?

The first 12,000 kids get a Mr. Met/Toyota beach towel.

mattbot (mattbot), Friday, 16 June 2006 14:27 (nineteen years ago)

MattBot and DaveR, it would be really awesome if you could come! I just got tickets this morning - they are in UR, Section, Row V, seats 2-4, so you can probably get similar. It's high up but pretty dead center, I think.

Seating:
Level Section Row Seat(s)
----- ------- ----- ----------
UR 6 V 2-4

felicity (felicity), Friday, 16 June 2006 18:38 (nineteen years ago)

Whoops, Section 6 that is.

felicity (felicity), Friday, 16 June 2006 18:46 (nineteen years ago)

three weeks pass...
If anyone wants to go to Newark on Sat eve... (talk me out of Art Brut @Coney):

The Newark Bears Professional Baseball Club is holding a tribute to the Newark
Eagles, the 1946 Negro World Series Champions on Saturday July 15 at 6 PM. There
will be a pre game dedication to the team, attended by several family members of
the team's great players like Monte Irvin, Ray Dandridge, Max Manning, Larry
Doby and Leon Day. There also will be a family member of Effa Manley, the
team's part owner and first woman Hall of Fame inductee.

The current Newark team will be playing in the replica Newark Eagles jerseys of
that championship season. A slient auction also will take place that evening for
those Eagles jerseys benefiting the Pop Lloyd Committee, which raises funds for
Negro League player causes and charities. The first 1500 fans will receive a
mini-bat.

SABR members are invited to check out our Newark History Room, which is now an
informal dedication to Newark baseball history. The Bears encourage your
feedback on this room!

mookieproof (mookieproof), Monday, 17 July 2006 22:08 (nineteen years ago)

The next 2 weeks may be hard for me, but suggest a date.

Also, Maddux v Trachsel next Monday at Shea.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 18 July 2006 13:55 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, now that i look at it, next 2-3 weeks are pretty bad for me too. just thinking ahead. august?

fongoloid sangfroid (sanskrit), Wednesday, 19 July 2006 01:53 (nineteen years ago)

yes. However, FYI, Buck O'Neil is throwing out the first ball and signing stuff next Tuesday in Coney.

http://www.brooklyncyclones.com/team/news/?id=3714

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 19 July 2006 12:24 (nineteen years ago)

man i don't think i'll be able to do anything until august at the earliest. this new job is gonna be tough with lots of late nights.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 19 July 2006 13:31 (nineteen years ago)

two weeks pass...
I'm planning on Cyclones on Sat. the 26th, but going with a group to honor our recently deceased SABR NYC friend. Staten Island Yankees always have lotsa seats...

I'm at Shea the 9th, 19th and 22nd this month, but all are pairs of tix in my plan. Might be up for one or two games besides those.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 3 August 2006 14:30 (nineteen years ago)

I was thinking about the 26th, but I think I'm gonna be too busy.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 4 August 2006 17:27 (nineteen years ago)

The Mets email blast offers free admission to the LF picnic bleachers for two (first 1,000 fans) for this Sunday night's ESPN game. Has anyone sat out there and enjoyed the experience?

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Friday, 4 August 2006 17:39 (nineteen years ago)

bump?

mookieproof (mookieproof), Friday, 11 August 2006 22:22 (nineteen years ago)

All my Shea and Coney outings are set at least thru Sept 5, but I haven't been to the S.I. Yanks yet...

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 13 August 2006 03:47 (nineteen years ago)

also contemplating a Phillies game, vs Atl or Hou, Labor Day weekend.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 16 August 2006 12:06 (nineteen years ago)

two weeks pass...
I have an EXTRA, as of this moment, for tonight's probably-will-be-played Mets-Smoltz game. $25 face value upperbox right behind home; plus you get to sit next to me. I'm off from work, and in the library right now, but email me by 3pm with a phone# and I'll get back to you.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 14:36 (eighteen years ago)

can't do it. sorry i haven't called you back. super-swamped with work.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 14:59 (eighteen years ago)

love to, but i have tix to the probably-will-not-be-played cyclones game tonight. anyone going to shea thursday?

mookieproof (mookieproof), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 15:58 (eighteen years ago)

Obv I'm praying for a rainout, but if there's any way the New Mets can gyp me out of my $50, they will.

Thurs is first game of Dodgers series, yeah?

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 18:37 (eighteen years ago)

ie I'd consider it if I get a raincheck for tonight.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 18:44 (eighteen years ago)

it is--penny vs el duque, depending on rain, etc

mookieproof (mookieproof), Tuesday, 5 September 2006 19:46 (eighteen years ago)

At the moment, sez Glavine-Penny tomw, Duque-Maddux Saturday.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 13:42 (eighteen years ago)

I might save my raincheck for Pedro's return / the Marlins series.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 7 September 2006 17:32 (eighteen years ago)

There are good loge back-rows available for Sat., for now.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 7 September 2006 18:46 (eighteen years ago)

some BUSY MAN needs to tell me whether he can go see Pedro tomorrow!

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 20 September 2006 13:55 (eighteen years ago)

wtf maybe an email would suffice instead of a public declaration on a message bored, ya nut!

and no i can't go.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 20 September 2006 20:51 (eighteen years ago)

This has been faster (tho small sample size).

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 21 September 2006 15:58 (eighteen years ago)
