The Cincinnatti Reds will be sent down to AAA in mid May with the Louisville Bats being called up to the NL Central.

The funny thing is other than the uniforms, there isn't much difference as the Reds are mostly filled with AAA players.

HE (Joe Morgan) ALREADY HAS! Well, him, and a whole slew of pundits (including my roomy, who sez that's why the A's don't do squat in the playoffs, which COULD be true were it not for the simple fact that a lot of the A's hitters have poo'd themselves in October) (I think).

I swear ESPN's hiring policy for baseball analysts & color commentators (in regards to former players) is to make Morgan seem godlike, and to make HR seem like Joe Morgan. And I swear that, come August, I will stop obsessing over ESPN's baseball analysts, except for Peter Gammons, because he's rad.

There are certainly some similarities between Florida 2003 and Minnesota 2004 : young teams, came on strong in the second half, unassuming offense (or so it would appear -- MN is in the middle of the AL pack in RS), a couple of dominating starters + a reliable closer.

Not specific to 2004, but:

I've been carefully reading over a book I published in 2014, fixing up small errors so I can reupload it to Kindle. Came across this, something I wrote about Jose Cruz Jr. in a Wallflowers fanzine comment in 1997 where I compared Jakob Dylan to a bunch of sons from father-and-son baseball duos:

...it’s still way too early to say much about Cruz, but my conservative guess is that he’ll hit upwards of 250 home runs in his career--I’d say there’s a better chance that he’ll hit a lot more than 250 than a lot fewer.

He was a 23-year-old rookie in 1997--bold prediction! He ended up hitting 204 for his career, so not bad--definitely not a lot more than 250, but I wouldn't call that a lot fewer, either.
