I'm too lazy to try and make the title witty.

Anyway, what's good, fictionwise and other? New, old, whatever.

I read Fantasyland last week, a WSJ columnist's year playing Tout Wars and spending $40k trying to influence players and interviewing fantasy experts. It was pretty decent for what it was, better in the lead up to the auction than after, and all the expert names bled together after a while.

Read some good things about the new Curt Flood bio -- helluva story, certainly.

Are Mike Lupica's baseball novels predictably dire?

Baseball's Sad Lexicon
by Franklin Pierce Adams

Published: New York Evening Mail (July 10, 1910)

These are the saddest of possible words:
"Tinker to Evers to Chance."
Trio of bear cubs, and fleeter than birds,
Tinker and Evers and Chance.
Ruthlessly pricking our gonfalon bubble,
Making a Giant hit into a double-
Words that are heavy with nothing but trouble:
"Tinker to Evers to Chance."

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Friday, 10 November 2006 16:22 (nineteen years ago)

But Chance don't rhyme w/ shit! Sain / rain IS the shit!
