San Francisco Giants pitcher Barry Zito was injured in a two-car collision in West Hollywood, authorities said today.

Zito was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with unknown injuries and apparently released this morning, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lt. Ana Brackpool of the West Hollywood Station said.

The other driver was not injured, Brackpool said.

It was unclear what caused the crash, Brackpool said.

The collision occurred about 7:50 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Sunset Plaza Drive, Brackpool said.

No official report was made by sheriff's deputies early this morning, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Joseph Morien said.

Zito's injuries were unknown because he was taken to the hospital before deputies arrived on scene, Morien said.

The Giants are scheduled to open the season today against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, with Zito scheduled to pitch Sunday.

Thanks for this! The TJ Question intrigued me because none of the starters ever had it - though ofc some of them weren’t velocity guys anyway - but I’m not sure any of the Core Four had it? I listened to an old talk with Righetti the other day; he didn’t talk about it but he was a big believer in throwing with your whole body, not with your arm.
