i TOTALLY miss manny being on the team and hate how that whole thing went down, but honestly no it has nothing to do with roids.

basically, it's like, for the money they spend on the team (which is passed on in the sense that i essentially can't afford to go to fenway) this is the baseline level of performance i can expect--95 wins and a realistic shot at the playoffs. i can find joy in individual moments and performances but in a macro sense i'm like, ok, we made it, breaks good and bad will determine it from here.

that is totally informed by the win in 04 of course but still when you learn more abt baseball there's something so goofy about getting worked up over the postseason.
