I wasn't sure where to post this, since it isn't about a new retiree but I had to share this info with y'all:

That's a recent interview with Candi Staton (house and disco fans on this board will know who she is), and the part that is relevant to this board is here:
Candi is now entering a new phase in her life, both professionally and personally “I got married a couple of months ago!” she exclaimed happily. “I had so much agony and pain in marriage and I vowed never to get married again, but I met this wonderful man who is a retired major league baseball player. His name is Otis Nixon and he’s played in almost every major baseball league in the country!”
You read that right, legendary diva Candi Staton is now married to OTIS NIXON OMG!!!!!!!!%!!&!!!!!!!
Oh man ... back in the day, my brother and I used to argue all the time about who was uglier, Otis Nixon or Ron Karkovice.

I heard that Byrnes was supposed to do a hit and run, but checked his swing, followed by Ichiro getting hung out to dry, followed by Ron Washington arguing that no one could possibly fail to swing on a hit and run so it should've been a strike, followed by Ron Washington getting tossed from the game.
And then later than evening, Byrnes avoided reporters and rode his "beach cruiser" bicycle around the clubhouse.

"I left everything on the field. It wasn't a storybook career. There were a lot of ups, a lot of downs. There was a lot of turmoil in my career. I wasn't expected to do this much in the game.
