picking phillies to lose with halladay-oswalt-hamels is the biggest challops you could do here

I'm picking who I'm rooting for, to do otherwise is bullshit.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Monday, 4 October 2010 11:40 (fourteen years ago)

Morbs, nobody thinks that they have magical powers and can predict the winner of a short series ... except for me that is, BET THE FARM ON THESE:

Phillies in 4
Giants in 4

Twins in 4
Rays in 3

NoTimeBeforeTime, Monday, 4 October 2010 11:53 (fourteen years ago)

I pick who I root for, and I'm rooting for all the teams that have never won a Series before. In order of who I'd most like to see win: San Francisco, Tampa Bay, Texas. And if not them, Minnesota.

clemenza, Monday, 4 October 2010 12:28 (fourteen years ago)

oh if its who i'm rooting for then uh

MIN CIN TBR ATL

ciderpress, Monday, 4 October 2010 13:10 (fourteen years ago)

xp i feel like texas should be first if that's your cause, considering that they haven't won a series before, let alone a Series

ciderpress, Monday, 4 October 2010 13:15 (fourteen years ago)

Twins, Rangers, Reds -- can't pick between Giants/Braves (two teams I like in roughly equal measure [though I do own a Braves hat, so maybe I should go with them]).

Guessing much will be made of Oswalt's 23-3 lifetime record versus the Reds -- nevermind that he hasn't done well against them in 2010.

Andy K, Monday, 4 October 2010 13:24 (fourteen years ago)

i can't decide whether 'lifetime record against team X' or 'batter is 4 for 7 against pitcher' etc. is the worst statistical misappropriation in baseball broadcasts

ciderpress, Monday, 4 October 2010 13:29 (fourteen years ago)

texas should be first if that's your cause, considering that they haven't won a series before, let alone a Series

Hadn't considered that...I just think the Giants had the most traumatic near-misses in '62 and '02, plus the city dealt with a lot of vilification over Bonds.

clemenza, Monday, 4 October 2010 13:38 (fourteen years ago)

Only two position players from the 2007 Reds roster remain (and Votto barely counts)!

Andy K, Monday, 4 October 2010 13:38 (fourteen years ago)

As a big Braves fan, I definitely didn't pick who I'm rooting for. Rooting Braves, Reds, Rays, Twins.

does MLB.TV have proper postseason coverage or is it just all blacked out since its on national tv?

ciderpress, Monday, 4 October 2010 15:05 (fourteen years ago)

I think all of the LDSes and one of the LCSes are on TBS. Fox has the other LCS and the WS.

In "Bob" There Is No East or West (WmC), Monday, 4 October 2010 15:15 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i don't have cable anymore and am trying to figure out if i can watch the TBS games

guess i'll have to hit up the shitty webstream sites

ciderpress, Monday, 4 October 2010 15:18 (fourteen years ago)

I'm pretty sure mlb.tv has no live postseason.

If it's NYY-TEX-PHI-ATL, I may bail totally on the LCS. The Rangers could be the least loathsome team in that quartet.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Monday, 4 October 2010 15:21 (fourteen years ago)

Sorry, misread mlb.tv as MLB Channel.

In "Bob" There Is No East or West (WmC), Monday, 4 October 2010 15:26 (fourteen years ago)

only teams i really loathe this year are NYY and PHI

which probably means we're bound to get a '09 redux

ciderpress, Monday, 4 October 2010 15:28 (fourteen years ago)

Would like to see Twins vs. Anyone-But-Phil

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Monday, 4 October 2010 16:23 (fourteen years ago)

I pick for who I think is going to win, not who I'm rooting for, because it's fun to try to guess things.

If you want to make god laugh, make a plan predict who will win baseball games.

I am rooting for anyone but the Phillies or Yankees, basically.

funky house skeptic (polyphonic), Monday, 4 October 2010 16:26 (fourteen years ago)

Seconded. But add the Giants to that list of hate.

mayor jingleberries, Monday, 4 October 2010 16:41 (fourteen years ago)

does MLB.TV have proper postseason coverage or is it just all blacked out since its on national tv?

they do have post season coverage for $9.95 to get all the games.

Bee OK, Monday, 4 October 2010 16:46 (fourteen years ago)

it seems it's not the actual tv broadcast though, its just some random camera angles plus radio

you have to be outside the US to get the tv broadcast online as far as i can tell

ciderpress, Monday, 4 October 2010 16:51 (fourteen years ago)

I don't hate any of these teams except for the Yankees. I don't like the Rays because they're in the same division as the Blue Jays, but they're not a hateable team or anything. I'm neutral on the Reds and Rangers, have soft spots for the Giants and Braves, and I like a lot of players on the Phillies (I couldn't care less about the team or the city though).

If I'm rooting for just one team then it's the Twins.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Monday, 4 October 2010 16:59 (fourteen years ago)

yep the twins are the feelgood bandwagon pick this year

ciderpress, Monday, 4 October 2010 17:12 (fourteen years ago)

Kinda okay with all of the teams except the Yanquis.

Don't think the Braves or the Twins can make it too far though.

Reds are managed by Dusty and we all now how well his postseasons have gone.

I'm thinking it's gonna be PHI vs. TAM but to get there it will be:

SF in 5
PHI in 4
NYY in 5
TAM in 5

Fartbritz Sootzveti (Steve Shasta), Monday, 4 October 2010 17:40 (fourteen years ago)

NYY in 4
TBR in 4
PHI in 3
SFG in 5

francisF, Monday, 4 October 2010 18:10 (fourteen years ago)

btw my preseason predictatron of NYY over ATL is still possible! though i wouldn't pick it that way now of course

ciderpress, Monday, 4 October 2010 18:12 (fourteen years ago)

A Braves-Yanks series would blow my fragile eggshell mind.

In "Bob" There Is No East or West (WmC), Monday, 4 October 2010 18:25 (fourteen years ago)

Reds are managed by Dusty and we all now how well his postseasons have gone.

mayor's a Dodger fan, he can't help but hate.

Bee OK, Tuesday, 5 October 2010 04:14 (fourteen years ago)

for some reason the reds remind me of the '04 red sox; top offense in the league backed by a questionable pitching staff featuring bronson arroyo

ciderpress, Tuesday, 5 October 2010 04:55 (fourteen years ago)

I'm finding it hard to root against the Bobby Cox retirement tour, TBH. Although my preferred WS would be Giants-Twins or Phillies-Twins.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Tuesday, 5 October 2010 09:15 (fourteen years ago)

Yanks sweep - called it!

got electrolytes (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Sunday, 10 October 2010 05:22 (fourteen years ago)

i want to see Bobby Cox get ejected from a WS game 7, what a way to go.

oh if its who i'm rooting for then uh
