Predicting Rangers for no damn reason other than hunch, rooting Rays.

In "Bob" There Is No East or West (WmC), Tuesday, 5 October 2010 19:59 (fifteen years ago)

This might be the biggest blow out of the first round. TAM in 3, possibly 4. Rangers did well in the AL West which is basically a AAA league at this point, they will live and die by Lee.

Rays are in the midst of a long dynasty, this is CCrawf's last season with them and his playoff performance could be a dealmaker to get that big $$$ next year in NY (Y vs. M).

Fartbritz Sootzveti (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 5 October 2010 20:23 (fifteen years ago)

i think angels are the 2nd most likely Crawford destination after NYY

i also think this could be the most exciting of the DSes but of course the first 2 games are early afternoon

Fartbritz Sootzveti (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 17:55 (fifteen years ago)

hmmm atdhe was pretty sturdy a year or two back. nice one.

sanskrit, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 17:58 (fifteen years ago)

I got mlb audio in my office. Listening to TB's broadcast. Looks like Lee is in a bit of a jam here.

mayor jingleberries, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 18:02 (fifteen years ago)

nice! i got a working free stream for the game!

got electrolytes (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 18:03 (fifteen years ago)

I had no idea Baldelli is back with the Rays.

mayor jingleberries, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 18:05 (fifteen years ago)

how many times will carlos pena strike out in this series?

mookieproof, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 18:07 (fifteen years ago)

Three singles, three Ks -- great Royals impression by the Rays there.

Andy K, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 18:07 (fifteen years ago)

Three singles, three Ks, no runs, that is.

Andy K, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 18:07 (fifteen years ago)

Pena getting screwed by blue 2x in that AB imho.

Fartbritz Sootzveti (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 18:09 (fifteen years ago)

who wouldve thunk baldelli & francouer would be starting in playoff games this season?

johnny crunch, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 18:09 (fifteen years ago)

Frenchy and Molina doing damage.

Andy K, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 18:19 (fifteen years ago)

what the hell did Price throw Fuckoeur?

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 18:31 (fifteen years ago)

3-0 swingin!

Fartbritz Sootzveti (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 18:39 (fifteen years ago)

mookieproof, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 18:52 (fifteen years ago)

hahaha, holy shit!

Fartbritz Sootzveti (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 18:52 (fifteen years ago)

Farm director and director of scouting threw out the first pitch today.. awww..

mayor jingleberries, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 18:56 (fifteen years ago)

ron washington: offense is definitely part of our game

mookieproof, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 18:58 (fifteen years ago)

he meant in contrast to Seattle

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 19:03 (fifteen years ago)

boom!

Fartbritz Sootzveti (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 19:08 (fifteen years ago)

obv Texas' lack of postseason experience is hurting em

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 19:33 (fifteen years ago)

why is rocco baldelli in this lineup someone plz explain

truly blunted rhyme fiend (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 19:37 (fifteen years ago)

feel like there should be a "rocco baldelli exemption" where if you somehow are forced to end up w/ rocco baldelli on your playoff roster you can borrow a "non-protected" outfielder from a non-playoff team

truly blunted rhyme fiend (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 19:37 (fifteen years ago)

great faceoff w/ Longoria there (and I only saw the espn.com pitch log)

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 19:43 (fifteen years ago)

Carlos Pena RIP

Fartbritz Sootzveti (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 19:47 (fifteen years ago)

it's almost as if putting a .179 hitter against lefties in the five hole against the best lefty in baseball wasn't a good idea

truly blunted rhyme fiend (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 19:49 (fifteen years ago)

And he gets to face CJ Wilson (.144/.224/.176 LH-against) tomorrow!

Andy K, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 19:56 (fifteen years ago)

not really sparkling at first base today either

mookieproof, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 19:56 (fifteen years ago)

brozits!

Fartbritz Sootzveti (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 19:59 (fifteen years ago)

Exhuming Baldelli really is one of the most bizarre playoff roster moves that I can remember.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 20:03 (fifteen years ago)

"Exhuming Baldelli" sounds like something that'll be on the TNT schedule next year.

In "Bob" There Is No East or West (WmC), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 20:05 (fifteen years ago)

not cool his mitochondria still work kind of

sanskrit, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 20:24 (fifteen years ago)

lol @ this. also, he was the DH

johnny crunch, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 20:24 (fifteen years ago)

i highly doubt he'll be in the lineup tomorrow

johnny crunch, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 20:25 (fifteen years ago)

tomorrow he sleeps!

sanskrit, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 20:33 (fifteen years ago)

pena avoids the sombrero

mookieproof, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 20:36 (fifteen years ago)

According to Buck Martinez, the problem with Feliz here is that he doesn't have the adrenaline rush of pitching in a save situation.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 20:39 (fifteen years ago)

buck martinez sometimes makes you long for joe morgan

johnny crunch, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 20:42 (fifteen years ago)

He is terrible.

Andy K, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 20:46 (fifteen years ago)

BIG GAME JAMES (5.17 ERA, AL highs in hits, earned runs, home runs) tomorrow!

Andy K, Wednesday, 6 October 2010 20:47 (fifteen years ago)

he pitched really well in two starts vs the rangers this year, so they at least have that...

truly blunted rhyme fiend (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 6 October 2010 20:51 (fifteen years ago)

omar little on the money

truly blunted rhyme fiend (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 02:39 (fifteen years ago)

free enterprise

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 02:40 (fifteen years ago)

Vlad should be allowed to ride a donkey to first.

JohnQuincyAdams, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 02:42 (fifteen years ago)

while 'goodbye to cheyenne' from 'once upon a time in the west' plays on the stadium speakers.

('_') (omar little), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 02:48 (fifteen years ago)

wait morbs has a twitter account and I don't?

sanskrit, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 02:54 (fifteen years ago)

holy

truly blunted rhyme fiend (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 02:58 (fifteen years ago)

game over

Headlock Ellis (WmC), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 02:58 (fifteen years ago)

I wonder if the Yankees will cooperate w/ Texas' run-while-the-opposition-sleeps tactic.

oic Buck, the Rangers "FALL BACK to power." How tragic!

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 02:59 (fifteen years ago)

what twitter account? it's URLs.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:01 (fifteen years ago)

so every time the Rangers made the postseason the yankess took them out? do not like the sound of that.

got electrolytes (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:02 (fifteen years ago)

it's OK, Kevin Elster isn't the shortstop anymore.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:04 (fifteen years ago)

okay why is cliff lee out there

('_') (omar little), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:08 (fifteen years ago)

this goddamn "command performance" tonight will throw another 8mil onto the NYY 2011 Lee contract.

sanskrit, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:08 (fifteen years ago)

he's pricing himself out of bosox range, i guess they'll grab ben sheets.

('_') (omar little), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:10 (fifteen years ago)

so this sets Lee up for games 3 and 7? wonder if 3 will be vs Burnett. :)

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:10 (fifteen years ago)

4 is burnett i believe

sanskrit, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:11 (fifteen years ago)

ok congrats to the rangers, but i never want to see ian kinsler and josh hamilton giving each other the guns again

mookieproof, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:11 (fifteen years ago)

sweet! xpost

got electrolytes (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:11 (fifteen years ago)

so - a Yankees Phils world series, eh?

got electrolytes (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:12 (fifteen years ago)

so are they going for martinelli sparkling cider? curious abuot what they will spray on josh godboy and str8edgeracer wilson

sanskrit, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:12 (fifteen years ago)

soda! that's pretty cool of them.

sanskrit, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:13 (fifteen years ago)

texas can beat the yankees

truly blunted rhyme fiend (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:13 (fifteen years ago)

yeah I noticed no booze too. thats classy of them. go get ripped 10 minutes after the show for the cameras.

mayor jingleberries, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:14 (fifteen years ago)

Cliff Lee is really incredible. Seriously do not understand why Phillies traded him.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:14 (fifteen years ago)

Cliff Lee!! Damn.

21 K's, 0 BB's in the series?

NoTimeBeforeTime, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:15 (fifteen years ago)

six of those k's were carlos pena, which shouldn't really count

mookieproof, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:16 (fifteen years ago)

assuming the Phils make the series and lose out i will be zinging many WHERE'S CLIFF LEE NOW? to my phillies friends.

sanskrit, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:16 (fifteen years ago)

lol @ mookiep

sanskrit, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:16 (fifteen years ago)

not cliff lee

mookieproof, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:17 (fifteen years ago)

i think they'll be fine but can you imagine Halladay / Lee / Oswalt / Hamels and punt the next four years?

sanskrit, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:18 (fifteen years ago)

lee seems like one of those guys who could pitch more than effectively or perhaps incredibly well for another ten seasons, too

('_') (omar little), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:18 (fifteen years ago)

well they would've had no need to trade for oswalt, so

truly blunted rhyme fiend (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:19 (fifteen years ago)

@aarongleeman‎: Cliff Lee threw 90 strikes tonight. Last pitcher to throw more in a playoff game: Orlando Hernandez with 91 in 2000.

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:20 (fifteen years ago)

that's some elite company

truly blunted rhyme fiend (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:21 (fifteen years ago)

Cant really see Lee as a yankee. He doesnt look like some smug motherfucker like Tex.

mayor jingleberries, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:24 (fifteen years ago)

feel like ryan & co should break the bank for him & hope that they can win that division for the next three years or so & rake in the attendance cash

truly blunted rhyme fiend (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:27 (fifteen years ago)

can't see it either. shave the soulpatch and he becomes Pavano.

but really if the rangers are flush with that new TV contract they need to pony up next year.

sanskrit, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:30 (fifteen years ago)

Is Matt Winer on loan from ESPN or does he work for MLB or TBS or what?

Headlock Ellis (WmC), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:32 (fifteen years ago)

tbs/tnt now

truly blunted rhyme fiend (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 03:33 (fifteen years ago)

can someone explain how benjie molina stole a base? unbelievable!

Fartbritz Sootzveti (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 04:40 (fifteen years ago)

i think he stole on a price curveball, also no one bothered to cover the base

truly blunted rhyme fiend (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 04:48 (fifteen years ago)

yadi has 17 steals over the past two years btw

truly blunted rhyme fiend (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 04:49 (fifteen years ago)

yadi is probably 2-3x faster than beng, bengie is widely considered the slowest player in MLB

Fartbritz Sootzveti (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 05:09 (fifteen years ago)

I enjoyed the Rays' "call 'time' many times -> throw the hot-tempered pitcher off his game" strategy.

Andy K, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 10:36 (fifteen years ago)

i don't think the st pete saks fifth avenue will be selling many $300 "brayzers" jackets.. pretty funny radio ad last night. particularly the 3-4 weeks for custom tailoring, after a WS win would be over.

sanskrit, Wednesday, 13 October 2010 14:53 (fifteen years ago)

shocked they created something possibly uglier than those claw and antler t-shirts.

So glad someone caught that. If my team's backup catcher popped out against Cliff Lee, I'd be just as rabid.

had to check your work when i read http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-alds-rangers-rays

Texas remained aggressive on the bases. The slow-footed Molina stole second on a full-count pitch in the third, his first steal since Sept. 9, 2006, with Toronto.

lazy
