Giants again. They are exorcising the ghost of BB (even if the city, sabermetricians, and steroid skeptics don't feel it needs to be exorcised).

i picked the Giants because the Rangers are the natural choice.

^^ I was thinking the same thing. My gut tells me Rangers in 5 (much better lineup, solid rotation, Cliff Lee is invincible) which means it's gonna be Giants in 6.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Monday, 25 October 2010 17:11 (fifteen years ago)

clemenza, you might want to tell the corporeal Bonds to stay away from the games in SF after he attended at least one in the LCS. Just to make sure this 'exorcism' works.

I looked closely, and that was just Chris Spier in a Barry Bonds costume.

Shasta--quite happy being RVW every time someone says "dude" to me.

Rangers in 5. Lincecum/Lee is a wash (at the moment, at least), Wilson/Lewis/Hunter isn't a terrible trio even if not as good as what the Giants will field and the Rangers offense is way, way better.
I think Washington announced that he'll be starting Guerrero in the OF in SF, which seems like it might be a very bad decision, though.

Still rooting for the Giants, though.

Right field in San Francisco is a minefield. I wonder if he could play left?

Giants, and more easily than people expect. Current bookmaker's odds in the UK favour the Rangers:

Rangers: 10/13
Giants: 11/10

Texas is 0-9 at AT&T Park and has lost 11 straight in San Francisco dating to the windy, chilly nights at Candlestick Park.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

This will be close, Giants in 7.

I really like Ron Washington and the Rangers' youth, but I think that this ain't their year. Could see them becoming a Tampa of the ALW.

My gut tells me Rangers in 5 (much better lineup, solid rotation, Cliff Lee is invincible) which means it's gonna be Giants in 6.

I nailed this one -- it was exactly the opposite of what my gut was telling me, just as I'd predicted

NoTimeBeforeTime, Tuesday, 2 November 2010 02:42 (fifteen years ago)

Except it was Giants in 5. Quite pleased with my rather vague "Giants, and more easily than people expect" prediction.

Mark C, Tuesday, 2 November 2010 11:07 (fifteen years ago)

called it w/ Giants in 6, if not for the breaks :)

kind of shrill and very self-righteous (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 2 November 2010 11:39 (fifteen years ago)

Seeing as everyone's patting themselves on the back for their predictions, here's what I wrote before the Phillies series:

I subscribe to the cliche that pitching--starting pitching especially--is at a premium in the postseason. And if the front three for both teams are at their very best, I don't know that relative offensive strength will mean all that much. Close games all, could go either way. Not saying the Giants will win, just that I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they did...Lincecum is the key. After a pedestrian season by his own standards, I get the feeling he's hyped to carry his team all the way.

Of course, a couple of you were very quick to point out the obvious flaws in my stodgy, cliched, Rip Van Winkle thinking.
