Asian Pitchers

per discussions on the hot stove thread, i pose a question.

Has there ever been or will there ever be an asian pitcher who panned out long term in MLB? Nomo had a few good years, but otherwise...meh.

dice-k is a disaster.

Are we including relievers?

Kuo is pretty good.

sure sure.

MLB has had maybe 50 Asian pitchers, tops -- right? The percentage of Asian pitchers who have been successful for ONE season is probably higher than that of North American pitchers.

And some of them CAN'T be successful long term because they come over when they are in their mid 30s.

Dice-K was pretty fucking good for a while but he seems lazy and unwilling to adapt.

ive hung out with ron darling a few times, when i was younger...he was a client of my fathers, as well as bucky f-in dent...who i went deep sea fishing with once.

chien-ming wang was pretty solid until he had to run the bases

timmy lincecum is pretty deece but maybe because he's only 1/4 oriental that prevents his exoticness from being too detrimental.

hiroki kuroda is quite good and barely gets any press

kaz sasaki was good too. these guys are all good for five minutes...

^^^ this. dude has been legit. he would have had better numbers in 09 had he not been hit in the face with a line drive in AZ. hes a free agent this year too. I wonder how many suitors he'll have.
