A Player Panel will follow the SABR awards presentations on Sunday morning. The awards presentations start at 10:30 AM. Del Crandall was born in 1930 in Ontario, California, and attended high school in nearby Fullerton. The Braves signed Crandall in 1948, and the catcher made his debut the following season. He played for 16 years, hitting 179 home runs. Crandall was key to the Braves' success as National League champions in 1957 and 1958. Tommy Davis was born in 1939 in Brooklyn and signed by the Dodgers in 1956. The leftfielder made his debut in 1959. Davis led the National League in batting average in both 1962 and 1963. In addition, in 1963 he led the league in hits (230) and RBI (153). Davis batted .313 in the postseason, including the 1963 and 1966 World Series. He played for several teams after leaving the Dodgers, including the 1969 Seattle Pilots. His career included 18 seasons and 1999 games. We also expect a representative of the Angels to join this panel.

Boras very entertaining. he said he won Steve Avery's arb case the year he was 9-14 (?) w/ a "Bobby Cox must be an idiot" defense. Emphazized the psychological and performance-related services of his agency.

learned many things yesterday, incl that Scott Rolen and St Jeter have the same career WAR.
Apparently MLB is equipping parks with cameras that will record a million datapoints per game to measure defense.

Also just peed next to Rob Neyer (not on the balcony).

Tommy Davis, the 2-time Dodger batting champ, pointed at my cap this morning and said "Mets! I played for you. One year." I said "I know!" without adding that I was in kindergarten that season. It was a pretty funny panel with Davis and Al Ferrara, both Brooklynites who played for the Koufax Dodgers.
