Jake Peavy was shut down on Sunday morning after talking with doctors about pain he was feeling following an 83-pitch effort Saturday against Oakland in Phoenix.Peavy was started on anti-inflammatory medication to try to nip the problem early. The right-hander said the words "rotator cuff tendinitis" are ones he had heard in possibly explaining the issue."You know, what I'm experiencing has kind of been a culmination of start after start after start," Peavy said. "It's kind of been coming since that first time. It's been getting a little more uncomfortable as I keep going."

No!
Last year, Peavy was being "a gamer" through pain (to the point where he wasn't throwing between starts) until the fucking muscle flew off the bone.
Then he had this recent pain intensifying with each game and he KEPT THROWING BASEBALLS.
― Andy K, Monday, 28 March 2011 18:51 (fourteen years ago)
I don't think his shoulder is going to explode, but I do think he will struggle to get comfortable, and constantly deal with tendinitis issues.

White Sox right-hander Jake Peavy is headed back to the disabled list with a strained right groin. Can't get enough White Sox information? ESPNChicago.com has all the latest from the South Side. BlogThe team hasn't made it official, but Peavy said before Tuesday's game against the Mariners that he's talked to general manager Ken Williams."I just saw the doctor, and I think we're going to have to go the conservative route," Peavy said. "Obviously, I wanted to try to push through it and do what we needed to do, but I think we're looking at the disabled list just because of the MRI result and how may exam just went with the doctor."Peavy was removed from Sunday's game against the Detroit Tigers in the fourth inning. He had been dealing with a sore right groin since his May 30 start at Boston and aggravated it Sunday while trying to cover first base. He continued to pitch, giving up six runs in the inning.

CHICAGO -- Chicago White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham apologized again Saturday for an inappropriate remark he scratched into the infield dirt earlier in the week.During Monday night's game against the Kansas City Royals, Beckham used his foot to write "GETZ IS GAY! G.B.," near his position at second. Royals second baseman Chris Getz is a friend and former White Sox teammate of Beckham.Fans in the upper deck were able to see Beckham's message clearly, and at least one photograph of the message is circulating on the Internet."Obviously I apologize and kind of want to move on," Beckham said Saturday. "Obviously it was meant as a joke but obviously it was in the wrong place and I didn't mean it that way. I will just try to move on."

The game appeared to be salvaged in the last ups by the White Sox, who used two walks and a stolen base to push leadoff hitter Juan Pierre to third base with one out, but A.J. Pierzynski grounded into a double play to end the inning, the rapscallion backstop punctuating his disgust with helmet slams and kicks both on the field and in the dugout.

The strange end to the White Sox’ 2011 took another odd twist this morning when general manager Ken Williams essentially fired interim manager Joey Cora and replaced him with pitching coach Don Cooper.Shortly after the Sox announced the immediate end to the Ozzie Guillen era Monday night, Cora, Guillen’s close friend and bench coach, was told he would serve as interim manager for the final two games.A team official also told reporters that Cora would serve as interim manager. But Cora received a text this morning from Williams telling him not to bother coming to the ballpark because Cooper is taking over the team for the last two games.Cora is expected to join Guillen in Florida, where Guillen will be introduced as the new manager of the Florida Marlins on Wednesday.
