Here's the rub - had a little baseball themed roadtrip planned for August but now one of my friends has backed out leaving me with an extra ticket for games in Boston (Aug 18), NY (Yankees 19th, Mets 21st), Philly (22nd) and Baltimore (24th).
So here's a call to my adored fellow ILBB'ers in the respective cities - fancy a ball game? I'd be great to meet some of you guys or see you again in a few cases (ok one case).

Also: Higgins - what are the decent neighbourhoods in Baltimore I should shoot for landing a hotel in? Any tips on Philadelphia are welcome too as I just have no clue whatsoever.
I thank god i didn't get around to booking these last week as my friends' cancelation would've been alot more expensive (and angering).

I'd go to Mets-Pads with you, TT!
― Dr Morbius, Monday, 16 July 2007 15:40 (eighteen years ago)
Cool. I figured you'd want the tic - all yers (I think they're crappy seats tho).

If the park isn't full I know the best loc for an "upgrade."
― Dr Morbius, Monday, 16 July 2007 15:46 (eighteen years ago)
sweet!

i'd be down for b'more, maybe philly.
seriously, in b'more there's a family of hotels (tremont plaza and tremont grand) by the government center. lots of amenities, pretty reasonable not a terrible walk from the park. anything really close to the inner harbor is crazy expensive (200 beans for a holiday inn that's pretty crummy even for a holiday inn).
otherwise, mt. vernon is the artsy district, fell's point and federal hill are neighborhood's w/ restaurants night life, etc.
for philly, ballpark's in south philly. if i had to guess, i'd say old city/penn's landing are the best places to stay, but try gophila.com

i had a connecting flight get snowed out in philly and they put me in a janky ass hotel across the street from CBP for the night. Cool Mike Schmidt statue out front.
― Steve Shasta, Monday, 16 July 2007 19:49 (eighteen years ago)
janky ass?
i mean, that doesn't SOUND good, but...
― j.q higgins, Monday, 16 July 2007 19:52 (eighteen years ago)
Janky | Poorly constructed or of poor quality
thanks, jq. i'll put aside the spare Baltimore ticket for you (it's vs the Twins).

huh. how about that?
maybe we'll luck out and get bedard v. santana again.
― j.q higgins, Monday, 16 July 2007 20:28 (eighteen years ago)
sweet jesus that would be awesome!
― The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Monday, 16 July 2007 20:36 (eighteen years ago)
the ballpark's in s. philly but the subway rolls within easy walking distance of cbp, so you could stay anywhere you like really. ditto on the gophila.com recommendation.

is yr dance card full? I can get to Shea by 6 on Tuesday (and it could be Maine v Young).
― Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 14:02 (eighteen years ago)
I really have no idea what the plan for... well... anything outside of the ballgames is for our trip - but 6 should be fine. can we just go into any gate for the upper level?
there's still an extra ticket for los yanques sunday if you know of anyone who may be interested, btw.

And friday looks like it'll be Trachsel vs Santana.

Ha ha - i will be sick of baseball by the time this is over (we changed plans a bit so we could see the HOF on our way home)!
i think i'm going to pass on this tho - i'd rather spend my time seeing NY as I haven't been there since i was 12. I also have a longtime ex in NY (from Sydney) (Australia) right now - so I need to set aside time to meet, have coffee and get into a dumb argument.
― The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Thursday, 16 August 2007 14:44 (eighteen years ago)
hey, I haven't been to the HOF since I was 12! (insert David R. joke about Babe Ruth's induction here)
― Dr Morbius, Thursday, 16 August 2007 14:46 (eighteen years ago)
i might be up for tuesday at shea
― mookieproof, Thursday, 16 August 2007 15:19 (eighteen years ago)
Cool (I'm out of free tickets tho)!
― The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Thursday, 16 August 2007 16:07 (eighteen years ago)
TT's voicemail is 'unavailable,' I'm wondering if it's def he has Yankee tkt for me. I didnt realize he'd be going from Bos tonight to Bronx tomorrow at 1! insane.
― Dr Morbius, Saturday, 18 August 2007 15:39 (eighteen years ago)
The game in Philly was a blowout, right? How ugly did the fans get?
The one we saw with Hoffman/Wagner was the first time two guys with 300+ saves both had blown saves in a game.
― Dr Morbius, Thursday, 30 August 2007 15:58 (eighteen years ago)
wow - we got to watch history fail!
The Philly game got ugly - but I was surprised how chilled out the fans were overall (also pretty crowded considering the weather). They resorted to cheering for what I was told was a football team by the 8th. apparently the football fans are the real scary ones there!
― The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Thursday, 30 August 2007 19:36 (eighteen years ago)
yes. pre-season football, no less. idiots.
― Dr Morbius, Thursday, 30 August 2007 19:39 (eighteen years ago)
philly's a football town, all-year 'round. it has nothing to do with pre-season.
― fukasaku tollbooth, Thursday, 30 August 2007 22:02 (eighteen years ago)
no, it has to do with inbreeding.
― Dr Morbius, Friday, 31 August 2007 16:42 (eighteen years ago)
i still think that morbs post phils-mets freakout says more about him than it does philly fans. don't wowwy: your wittle team will still make the pwayoffs.
― fukasaku tollbooth, Thursday, 13 September 2007 12:14 (eighteen years ago)
Hardly a freakout, hon.
