rox only scored because valdespin completely misplayed a fly ball (not sure why he's playing cf anyway)

R.A. update

• 1st in NL in W (17)
• 2nd in NL in IP (191.1)
• 2nd in NL in SO (190)
• 3rd in NL in ERA (2.63)
• 1st in NL in WHIP (1.01)
• 2nd in NL in W% (.810)
• 1st in NL in CG (5)

Pangborn to be Wilde (Dr Morbius), Saturday, 1 September 2012 08:32 (twelve years ago)

He still trails Cueto in WAR by 1.5 wins.

Wright, OTOH, leads the NL in WAR!

Mordy, Thursday, 20 September 2012 04:14 (twelve years ago)

wtf is that and why care?

via Adam Rubin:

The Mets struck out 15 times on Wednesday night. It's the fifth time this year they've struck out at least 15 times in a nine-inning game.

In the first 50 years of Mets history, there were only 14 instances in which 15 Mets struck out in a nine-inning game.

The Mets are the second team to strike out at least 15 times in a nine-inning game five times in a Live Ball Era season.

The other is the Pirates, who have done so six times this season.

Jeremy Hefner was the first Mets starting pitcher to allow at least six earned runs without getting an out in Mets history, and the first to allow six hits without getting an out.

kizz my hairy irish azz (Dr Morbius), Friday, 21 September 2012 17:40 (twelve years ago)

johnny crunch, Saturday, 22 September 2012 18:47 (twelve years ago)

• 2nd in NL in W (19)
• 1st in NL in IP (220.0)
• 1st in NL in SO (209)
• 1st in NL in ERA (2.66)
• 2nd in NL in WHIP (1.04)
• 3rd in NL in W% (.760)
• 1st in NL in CG (5)

kizz my hairy irish azz (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 23 September 2012 01:16 (twelve years ago)

The importance of wins, ERA, and winning pct. undergo miraculous resurrection...I think the joke here is that you're daring someone to call you on how silly you can be about this stuff, and the minute that someone does, you end up looking even sillier for taking the bait. Well played.

clemenza, Sunday, 23 September 2012 01:42 (twelve years ago)

he's a fucking Met, dude, that's my interest. And he has a decent argument as the best NL pitcher on both the dinosaur and advance stats, which both decide Cy, see?

kizz my hairy irish azz (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 23 September 2012 02:07 (twelve years ago)

Of course he has a decent argument as best pitcher--better than decent, when you look at the whole picture. You're just extremely selective as to when you choose to look at the whole picture; if it were someone else, you'd be quite content to limit the comparison to Cueto's lead in WAR. If your point is that inconsistency's okay as long as a rooting interest is involved, that's fine--funny, but understandable.

clemenza, Sunday, 23 September 2012 02:35 (twelve years ago)
