I like the Rockies but I think they're about done...

Phillies in 4.

Steve Shasta, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 12:53 (eighteen years ago)

First to 100 runs wins.

mattbot, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 13:17 (eighteen years ago)

Philly in phour.

The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 13:31 (eighteen years ago)

Rocks win w/ destiny and by abusing Myers

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 13:47 (eighteen years ago)

I'm going to side with Morbs' fairly uncanny Rockies-related intuition and say Rockies in 4. The Phillies' pitching is due for a collapse. They simply can't continue to put up a 3.40 staff ERA like they did over the past three weeks.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 14:14 (eighteen years ago)

phillies in 3

sanskrit, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 14:22 (eighteen years ago)

Crystal ball has gone cloudy after last night. Still, PHI-4.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 14:55 (eighteen years ago)

Rocks in 4

polyphonic, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 16:25 (eighteen years ago)

seriously, will philadelphians phreak out and start the wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth when the rockies go down a couple games?

j.q higgins, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 16:32 (eighteen years ago)

phils, because the rockies won't win the road games.

omar little, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 18:00 (eighteen years ago)

will JORGE JULIO be on the LDS roster??

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 18:13 (eighteen years ago)

ha!

eaton=dropped!

j.q higgins, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 18:29 (eighteen years ago)

PHI in 4.

boldbury, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 04:07 (eighteen years ago)

QED from the MSM

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 13:08 (eighteen years ago)

Rox in 5.

Baked Bean Teeth, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 17:02 (eighteen years ago)

from BP:

As it turns out, Jorge Julio didn't make the playoff roster; in his place, the Rockies have plugged in Mark Redman. Yes, that Mark Redman. Whether Julio commits seppuku remains to be seen, but let's just assume that the odds of Redman being a difference-maker are low.

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 17:20 (eighteen years ago)

Phillies in four.

Series MVP: Shane Victorino, unless the series goes to five games and Jimmy Rollins gets 25/25+ plate appearances.

Andy K, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 18:41 (eighteen years ago)

oh, wow, TBS is fucking obnoxious.

cankles, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 18:41 (eighteen years ago)

the reason i was looking forward to the whole playoffs on tbs thing is that it's a broadcast channel in atlanta, but then i found this out:

On October 1, 2007, Turner Broadcasting rebranded WTBS as Peachtree TV, with new call letters, WPCH-TV. [1] As a result of this, the nationwide version of TBS, which was blacked out in the Atlanta market, became available to cable and satellite viewers in the market for the first time. For example, Peachtree TV remained on Comcast channel 7 on most Atlanta area systems, while the national version of TBS could now be seen on Comcast channel 39.

wtffff

cankles, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 18:42 (eighteen years ago)

Thru 1 inning... where is the slugfest?

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 19:21 (eighteen years ago)

Helton overcomes the WAVING TOWELS

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 19:24 (eighteen years ago)

hstencil, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 19:39 (eighteen years ago)

More like LOLE HAMELS so far.

mattbot, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 19:39 (eighteen years ago)

Plenty of room on the Rockies bandwagon!

govern yourself accordingly, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 19:40 (eighteen years ago)

Hamels walks in a run! 39 pitches in the inning.

how close did Holliday come to making it 7-0?

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 19:40 (eighteen years ago)

everyone know this is streaming live for free @ mlb.com?

deeznuts, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 20:18 (eighteen years ago)

Rowand & Burrell go boom

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 20:31 (eighteen years ago)

fukasaku tollbooth, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 20:32 (eighteen years ago)

Hamels afire now

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 20:46 (eighteen years ago)

I was wondering if he's being pulled a little quickly, but damn, 115 pitches already...

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 21:02 (eighteen years ago)

you must have missed the 2nd inning when he walked in a run.

Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 21:07 (eighteen years ago)

I did not. (see^)

wtf, Hurdle lets Francis hit then relieves him?

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 21:13 (eighteen years ago)

I tried to do the stream at MLB but they had some phillies guys in a studio talking over the footage and I say no to that noise.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 21:14 (eighteen years ago)

todd helton, the phillie killer ;_;

Eisbaer, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 21:41 (eighteen years ago)

chase utley gets a sombrero. welcome to the playoffs chumply.

Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 21:43 (eighteen years ago)

Rockies bullpen is getting it done.

Only 8 hits through 8 innings, kinda surprising.

polyphonic, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 21:43 (eighteen years ago)

Phillies' lead-off through clean-up:

0-14, 1 BB, 8Ks

way2go team.

Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 21:46 (eighteen years ago)

and finishing 0-15 with 9Ks.

Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 22:12 (eighteen years ago)

deeznuts, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 22:22 (eighteen years ago)

fukasaku tollbooth, Wednesday, 3 October 2007 22:50 (eighteen years ago)

^^ first mlb player post on ilb

sanskrit, Thursday, 4 October 2007 01:21 (eighteen years ago)

Bottom Line: Whichever team can neutralize the other's offense will prevail in this slugfest. <--Tony Gwynn's bold prediction

bnw, Thursday, 4 October 2007 03:15 (eighteen years ago)

and the Rockies scored 4 times while actually touching the plate.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 4 October 2007 17:06 (eighteen years ago)

CORPASGATE?

http://www.philly.com/philly/hp/sports/20071004_Umps__keep_an_eye_on_that_Rockie.html

Meredith (Los Angeles): There is a report in the Philadelphia Daily News that Manny Corpas was caught on by TBS' cameras in the bullpen throwing water or soda on his shirt, then rubbing dirt into the wet spot. When he went out to pitch, he evidently touched that spot on his uniform several times to get a better grip on the ball?). If this report is true, he blatantly cheated. Do you know if the MLB office and or the umps will be shown this tape before today's Game 2 -- and do you think Charlie Manuel will have the umps check out Corpas' uniform when he pitches again?

Keith Law: (1:14 PM ET ) Considering how much movement Corpas gets on his fastball, I hope the Phils push hard for MLB to look into this. I would assume after Smudgegate last year, they will, but you never know. Corpas has outstanding stuff, but if he's doing it by doctoring the ball, then he should be suspended.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 4 October 2007 17:45 (eighteen years ago)

Looks like we may get that slugfest today...

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 4 October 2007 19:26 (eighteen years ago)

Triple and homer for clutchytastic sparkplug (East) BBWAA Love Object.

This one ain't gonna be over at 6pm ET.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 4 October 2007 20:02 (eighteen years ago)

you know, a slam for ex-Flushing zombie KAZ ain't a spot on what I saw since Sept 12, but still...

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 4 October 2007 20:36 (eighteen years ago)

I don't understand using Lohse there, who is presumably only in there to eat innings. The situation called for a high-leverage reliever (even though it was only the 4th inning), so why not treat it like a late-inning matchup, bring in a proper bullpenner, and let Lohse eat innings starting with the 5th?

NoTimeBeforeTime, Thursday, 4 October 2007 20:40 (eighteen years ago)

kyle loss amirite

mookieproof, Thursday, 4 October 2007 20:41 (eighteen years ago)

it's not in Charlie's manual.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 4 October 2007 20:43 (eighteen years ago)

It's strange though, because Manuel got to the postseason by tearing up the manual and riding his relievers hard. Why change now? (question somewhat rhetorical)

NoTimeBeforeTime, Thursday, 4 October 2007 20:49 (eighteen years ago)

and JOSE MESA! what a spectacular follow-up choice.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 4 October 2007 21:18 (eighteen years ago)

can kaz matsui cycle????

mookieproof, Thursday, 4 October 2007 21:22 (eighteen years ago)

Steve Shasta, Thursday, 4 October 2007 21:32 (eighteen years ago)

mookieproof, Thursday, 4 October 2007 22:00 (eighteen years ago)

So is this the opportunity for Hurdle to win MOY, Rollins MVP?

fukasaku tollbooth, Thursday, 4 October 2007 22:29 (eighteen years ago)

not really as ballots are already in.

Steve Shasta, Thursday, 4 October 2007 23:27 (eighteen years ago)

Lights out.

Andy K, Sunday, 7 October 2007 01:57 (eighteen years ago)

WTF!

gr8080, Sunday, 7 October 2007 01:57 (eighteen years ago)

They should have tried that at Wrigley.

gr8080, Sunday, 7 October 2007 01:58 (eighteen years ago)

Bah. It would be nice to watch three games tomorrow...

Andy K, Sunday, 7 October 2007 04:39 (eighteen years ago)
