Andy K, Friday, 5 October 2007 23:04 (seventeen years ago)

Posada and Joba's dad are tolerable.

Don't really mind Torre, either.

Andy K, Friday, 5 October 2007 23:05 (seventeen years ago)

I voted for the most morally repugnant because I'm not shallow like youse guys.

i always hated paul oneil.

clemens is a giant fuckin bag of dicks.

johnny crunch, Friday, 5 October 2007 23:14 (seventeen years ago)

If you're talking "that is one ugly Yankee," I'd have to say Yogi Berra, but Clemens has soul-rot that gets my vote.

Rock Hardy, Friday, 5 October 2007 23:54 (seventeen years ago)

just 'repulsive' by def. i'd throw the giamibino out there but i dont hate the guy.

johnny crunch, Saturday, 6 October 2007 00:08 (seventeen years ago)

i feel sorry for giambini, the dude is just a dumb choad. i voted clemens, and while i hate some of those other dudes this was not a difficult decision!

jim kaat really isn't a yankee, though -- aside from his sport casting gig, he only spent 2 years as a yankee player (1979-1980).

Eisbaer, Saturday, 6 October 2007 05:31 (seventeen years ago)

i mean, by that logic then tom seaver and bill white are also "yankees" -- which is absurd!

Eisbaer, Saturday, 6 October 2007 05:33 (seventeen years ago)

Clemens. Ideal result of Game 3: Clemens earns his $20 Million by getting shelled, ARod hits two grand slams, Yankees lose 11-10, media searches desperately for new slant on Yankee postseason woes.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Saturday, 6 October 2007 13:29 (seventeen years ago)

guys is there really any doubt that it's giambi??? the way the guy's neck bulges, the way he sweats 24/7, the methed-out darting eyes, the resemblance to a pound of sausage stuffed into a half-pound bag.. i mean it's HANDS DOWN giambi, i don't see how anyone else even comes close!

cankles, Saturday, 6 October 2007 20:27 (seventeen years ago)

Oh come on anyone who is voting for Giambi (who just looks like a tool) over Clemens (who is a tool in addition to looking like one) is crazy. Roger Clemens is possibly the most repellant ballplayer since Ty Cobb (note: probably not true, but still he's gross!)

Alex in SF, Saturday, 6 October 2007 20:53 (seventeen years ago)

Roger Clemens is possibly the most repellant ballplayer since Ty Cobb (note: probably not true, but still he's gross!)

At this point I have to bring up Roberto Alomar.

Rock Hardy, Saturday, 6 October 2007 20:59 (seventeen years ago)

i dunno i think robbie was just kind of a dick for a time there whereas rog has been 20+ years of choad personified.

Rock Hardy, Saturday, 6 October 2007 21:40 (seventeen years ago)

steve shasta 1,000% OTM re clemens's douchebaggery.

also, i think that albert belle @ the peak of his "glory" could've given ty cobb a run for his money as far as being repellent goes.

Eisbaer, Saturday, 6 October 2007 21:45 (seventeen years ago)

btw i spent a while looking at ty cobb's wikipedia last night and it is the most hilarious shit ever

Cobb once slapped a black elevator operator for being "uppity." When a black night watchman intervened, Cobb pulled out a knife and stabbed him (The matter was later settled out of court).[17]

cankles, Saturday, 6 October 2007 21:53 (seventeen years ago)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1910_Chalmers_Award

ty cobb was so hated that other managers tried to throw the batting title, just to keep him from winning it - in the last game of the year the opposing manager told his 3B to play in shallow right as nap lajoie laid down repeated bunts down the third base line lolol

cankles, Saturday, 6 October 2007 21:54 (seventeen years ago)

evidence of albert "joey" belle douchebaggy hijinks, from wikipedia:

It was a taken in baseball circles that Albert Belle was nuts... The Indians billed him $10,000 a year for the damage he caused in clubhouses on the road and at home, and tolerated his behavior only because he was an awesome slugger... He slurped coffee constantly and seemed to be on a perpetual caffeinated frenzy. Few escaped his anger: on some days he would destroy the postgame buffet...launching plates into the shower... after one poor at-bat against Boston, he retreated to the visitor's clubhouse and took a bat to teammate Kenny Lofton's boombox. Belle preferred to have the clubhouse cold, below 60 degrees, and when one chilly teammate turned up the heat, Belle walked over, turned down the thermostat, and smashed it with his bat. His nickname, thereafter, was "Mr. Freeze."[1]

didn't happen when he was a yankee.

hstencil, Saturday, 6 October 2007 22:58 (seventeen years ago)

yeah yeah yeah. The thread had already shifted a bit when Cobb's name came up.

Rock Hardy, Saturday, 6 October 2007 23:46 (seventeen years ago)

giambi was kindof loveable as an A, though...corrupted by the big city, made some bad choices, etc., etc., clemens has consistently been repellant everywhere.

johnny crunch, Saturday, 6 October 2007 23:55 (seventeen years ago)

i want some interviewer to ask him, 'hey raj how do you feel knowing that perhaps your best overall season came as a member of the blue jays?'

omar little, Sunday, 7 October 2007 00:23 (seventeen years ago)

Alomar vs Clemens or Belle isn't even close. Alomar was a decent guy -- a bit of a loner who didn't fit in well with his teammates, but overall quite friendly. Spitting in the ump's face was a huge exception, obv., but it was very out of character. Albert Belle, OTOH, was an asshole 24/7.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Sunday, 7 October 2007 10:28 (seventeen years ago)

ntbt otm

hstencil, Sunday, 7 October 2007 17:11 (seventeen years ago)

i think albert/joey was borderline insane and unbalanced. roger should win because his douchery is related to ego and "i'm better than everyone else and mah legacy is priority #1!" which is why his mediocre return and a prompt playoff exit would be so sweet.

omar little, Sunday, 7 October 2007 17:22 (seventeen years ago)

i mean, his announcement at yankee stadium was practically like, "i'm coming back to save you guys, so just chill". what a creep.

my favorite heter story of the bunch was the classmate of a friend who went to u of mich. still in college, she and another friend met jeter in some ann arbor bar. as it neared closing time, an awkward moment emerged as both girls wanted a moment alone to take him home. he ended up defusing the unspoken situation by inviting them both over to his hotel room and they ended up having a three-way. afterwards, he insisted they get back to campus safely and gave them $60 cab fare. it turned out to be only an $8 taxi ride, and left with quite a bit of change, the girls couldn't figure out if they had just been paid for sex.

WooHoo! I've always said that Derek Jeter is the epitomy of a great teamplayer. He is an asset to the Yankees in many ways. Jeter is a gentleman, both on and off the field. He is a fine example to the young ballplayers who look up to him. He's #1 in my eyes!

omar little, Monday, 8 October 2007 17:31 (seventeen years ago)

Dr Morbius, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:20 (seventeen years ago)

not a jeter tale but this one guy i worked with told the story of how this girl he was pals with met nomar at a bar and he invited her back to his place. they apparently had a very nice conversation and then nomar tried to get some and she wasn't feeling it. so nomar tossed her coat at her and told her to leave.

omar little, Monday, 8 October 2007 18:47 (seventeen years ago)

this was during nomar's early years in boston

Duncan is hideous...

-- Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved

He's like that guy that everyone says you hate when you have to play against him but love when he's on your side, except I doubt he gets much love from his teammates either, what with his over-caffeinated Bash Brothers schtick and spiking dudes in the nads. Gawky overbiting one-dimensional spaz. I look forward to pitchers schooling his bail-out swinging ass, and hearing the disappointment in the voices of various YES Network shills.

I am so sad I missed this poll.

omar little, Friday, 14 March 2008 19:02 (seventeen years ago)

i honestly cant remember now if it was shelly or chris. 90% sure it was shelly though.

i think me and a friend pulled a prank on a girl he was dating? our school did this thing where every spring we had a "Car Show" and the whole campus had student's hot-shit cars parked all over it and everyone ditched class and just hung out in everyone's cars all day long. his friend/ girlfriend's camaro or whatever was parked right under the tree where me and all the cool punk rock kids ate lunch and we were feeling pissed off at the whole thing- these cool kids eating lunch in their sports car with the windows rolled up under our fucking tree.

so i dared my friend to get up next to the window where the girl was and make a real disgusting face and then put both palms on the glass and lick the window. he did and i was laughing so hard you could tell i had something to do with it.

i remember he got all up in my face and like a million kids circled around expecting a fight and all. i think one of my friends shouted "KISS HIM!" and i just laughed and slapped him on the back in a "you're allright, pal" kind of way and was able to get the fuck out of there.

as far as insider info i really don't know shit. our school was so huge the years we went there that i never had any other interaction w/ him.

"Más Allá" was our slogan and people would shout it at games so if you shout that out in a real condescending way it might get into his head.

or say he banged PH30B3 H3Nd3r$0n (lol).
