Charlie (Lafayette, CA): Who sold their soul on the Rockies to get them to where they are right now - 4 wins from playing in the World Series?
Gary Huckabay: I have it on good authority that it's Ubaldo Jimenez. Ubaldo is Spanish for "Faust".

A play-off series between two teams that didn't exist when I was in high school. The baseball purist in me doesn't like this one bit.

I think it's great! Arizona vs. Colorado means less talk about a bunch of 100 year old nonsense that has no bearing on the current players on the field. Of course we'll get plenty of that in the AL so I guess it all balances out.

lol, "baseball purist." are you mad it only takes 4 balls to walk, too?
― hstencil, Tuesday, 9 October 2007 00:19 (seventeen years ago)
I don't like the play-off system. Having these wild card teams walk bassackwards into a national championship is ridiculous.

what are your thoughts on hockey?

frankly, any divisional setup can have a mediocre division winner. You can make an argument that the Rockies turned out to be the best NL team despite wild card status.
I somehow don't think we're gonna get a lot of Indians historical talk in the ALCS, as a week is not enough time to educate America about Lou Boudreau and Bob Lemon.

It's what baseball's turning into. Today it's the Rockies. Tomorrow, Tampa Bay.*
