Really not a heavy rooting interest here... Giants had their day in the sun, tho a Bay Series (sans quake) wd be nice. But the Reds should be able to put more luster on Votto and Cueto if they advance, and Dusty seems to screw up less these days.

kizz my hairy irish azz (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 4 October 2012 16:11 (twelve years ago)

why did i think these were 7 games? they should be

johnny crunch, Thursday, 4 October 2012 16:12 (twelve years ago)

i have no idea who will win, rooting reds

congratulations (n/a), Thursday, 4 October 2012 16:43 (twelve years ago)

these should be polls

anyways, i really don't think we will win this series. the Giants really need to win the first two games at home.

Bee OK, Friday, 5 October 2012 00:18 (twelve years ago)

OK, set up a "Who do you want to win the Reds/Giants series?" poll and a "Who do you think will win the Reds/Giants series?" poll, and then do the same thing for the other three series.

Andy K, Friday, 5 October 2012 00:35 (twelve years ago)

i see that you said it should have been a poll in the A's thread, not a big deal. not going to start new threads, these are fine. i wasn't trying to be a dick but it might have sounded that way.

Bee OK, Friday, 5 October 2012 00:56 (twelve years ago)

Giants had their day in the sun, tho a Bay Series (sans quake) wd be nice.

FYI, we're (over)due for the Big One...

Claudia Schiffer Kills Frog (Leee), Friday, 5 October 2012 03:52 (twelve years ago)

this Saturday night matchup between Cueto and Cain looks like a classic. we are talking the number three and number four in ERA with Cueto betting Cain by ONE percentage point.

Bee OK, Friday, 5 October 2012 05:16 (twelve years ago)

btw, the TBS announcers for this series will be Brian Anderson, Ron Darling and Joe Simpson.

Bee OK, Friday, 5 October 2012 06:06 (twelve years ago)

http://www.onlybaseballmatters.com/

Once again, MLB absolutely fucks the Giants over, with a 12 noon start on Sunday, followed by consecutive 9am starts on Tuesday and Wednesday (all times PST). So much for anyone who has a job in San Francisco. This has happened before, and it’s a travesty.

Bee OK, Friday, 5 October 2012 06:27 (twelve years ago)

i also did some research regarding the game times that OBM posted. throw it all out the window. on Sunday there is a 9 AM game and i hope the Giants are not slotting into that time slot. the second game, however, broadcast time will starts at 12:30 PM and not noon. the is no 9 AM game on Tuesday but there might be one on Wednesday if all four teams are playing that day.

*all times pacific time

Bee OK, Friday, 5 October 2012 07:16 (twelve years ago)

Sunday game: 9:37 p.m. EST

Andy K, Friday, 5 October 2012 14:34 (twelve years ago)

Oh, great, more Ron Darling -- hope he tones down his breathless pitcher psychoanalysis.

Andy K, Friday, 5 October 2012 14:40 (twelve years ago)

thanks Andy for the time.

Bee OK, Friday, 5 October 2012 20:05 (twelve years ago)

i see Jayson Stark has the Giants winning the whole thing, he has more confidence than i do.

http://espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs/2012/story/_/id/8460541/2012-world-series-prediction

i also like this about having to play the Giants in San Francisco.

"We've talked about this, about how you don't want to have to open in that park," a player on one NL playoff team said earlier this season. "That's a tough, tough place to play. It's tough to hit. It's tough to score. The atmosphere is unbelievable in a big game. It's a lot more travel. And then you've got to face that pitching staff. I know you're not supposed to care who you play. But to have to open in that place? No thanks."

Bee OK, Friday, 5 October 2012 20:07 (twelve years ago)

since i posted Jayson Stark's pick will post the rest from ESPN.

http://espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs/2012/story/_/id/8457479/mlb-espn-predicts-postseason

six for the Yankees, the Giants were next with five picks with a A's getting only one vote.

Bee OK, Saturday, 6 October 2012 06:18 (twelve years ago)

out of 25 votes.

Bee OK, Saturday, 6 October 2012 06:23 (twelve years ago)

It's kind of inverse to what you might think when by the team stats numbers the Reds actually have better pitching and the Giants have better hitting.

earlnash, Saturday, 6 October 2012 06:39 (twelve years ago)

I think the Reds hitting stats get weighed down quite a bit by all the dead at bats Dusty burned with Stubbs and the vets on the bench (Valdez & Cairo). Add in the 6-62 by Willie Harris and Mike Constanzo and those five guys when 179-901 hitting at a Mendoza level .199.

earlnash, Saturday, 6 October 2012 06:44 (twelve years ago)

i'm a wreck right now.

Bee OK, Saturday, 6 October 2012 22:11 (twelve years ago)

really couldn't ask for more tonight, with Cain we are in good hands.

Bee OK, Sunday, 7 October 2012 01:09 (twelve years ago)

Bee OK, Sunday, 7 October 2012 01:57 (twelve years ago)

Cain is on his game. i feel for the Reds however.

Bee OK, Sunday, 7 October 2012 02:09 (twelve years ago)

this is how the Giants play

Bee OK, Sunday, 7 October 2012 02:20 (twelve years ago)

of course, didn't figure in that walk

Bee OK, Sunday, 7 October 2012 02:21 (twelve years ago)

what a tease

Bee OK, Sunday, 7 October 2012 02:22 (twelve years ago)

Joe Sheehan ‏@joe_sheehan
Don't think of it as Cueto getting hurt. Think of it as the Reds voluntarily shutting him down. See, no problem!

Andy K, Sunday, 7 October 2012 02:25 (twelve years ago)

"Our swag is real nice right now," second baseman Brandon Phillips told the Cincinnati Enquirer. "Our team chemistry is gorgeous. Our pitching is gorgeous."

George Kontos, Jeremy Affeldt, Javier Lopez, Santiago Casilla and Sergio Romo combined to pitch three and one-third innings of scoreless ball to close it out.

Bee, should Timmy be on the postseason roster?
i thinking after last nights game, no. he just has no idea where the ball is going and no confidence in himself. i think he will get one or two more starts and if there is no improvement they will have to not put him on the roster.
