The FOX broadcast network will air 24 Major League Baseball telecast windows during the 2013 regular season, the network announced Tuesday. The schedule includes eight straight weeks of baseball in primetime (May 25 to July 13), marking the second straight year the network has aired such an extensive primetime slate. FOX has adjusted the schedule to accommodate college football, going dark on August 31 — the first Saturday of the season — and airing games at 1 PM ET throughout September. 2013 is the final year of the current MLB TV deals; starting in 2014, FOX will air 12 telecast windows per year.

Since Votto debuted, there have been more than twice as many no-hitters as Joey Votto pop-ups. Since 2009, there have been two (or three) more perfect games than Joey Votto pop-ups.

I know the Astros are awful but hitting the over if they go 60-102 seems awfully generous. A straight 0.0 WAR team wins 45-46 games if I recall correctly.

well they won 55 games last year, are perhaps worse now on paper, and are moving to a much harder division

BP's daily podcasters have been discussing for a week if a player could be ejected midplay, so they apparently went nuts when it happened befrore Gomez crossed the plate.

I like the ump's solution in this case: call McCann for interference on the basepath, award Gomez the base, don't make him go back out on the field to touch it. He looked like he would have just ripped the plate out of the ground and make somebody eat it, anyway.

Uh... Blocking home plate on a HR? Yeah no, that's one of the most butthurt reactions I've ever seen, and I'm disappointed Gomez didn't have a chance to lay him out.

iirc mccann had more of a reason to block home plate than the fact that there was a HR

if gomez would have laid him out he would have:

- hit a HR
- admired his HR for a long time
- stared at Maholm
- flipped the bat
- yelled at Maholm on the way up the first base line
- yelled back and forth with freddie freeman, who was protecting the pitcher from the asshole running around the bases
- yelled at the 3B
- yelled at Maholm again
- destroy the catcher on the way to the plate

why's he so mad? because he got hit in the leg in June by Maholm.

perhaps he should have taken a detour over to the stands to steal a little kid's glove and heave it into the bullpen

Why not? Baseball's still here, and the DH has been around for 40 years. Schoenfield's solution is to get rid of the DH. Does one league significantly and consistently outdraw the other? (Tried to look this up and couldn't.) I haven't noticed an uprising among fans from either league, or maybe I missed it.

McCann has been the only Brave I like for years, but I think the greater incidence of "baller moves" in other team sports is why I fucking loathe them with the fire of a hundred suns.

I know it's not the regular season anymore, but we don't have a Dumbass Media 2013 thread.

Has anybody else noticed really bad audio mixes in baseball broadcasting lately? It seems like nobody knows how to mic the announcers for audibility anymore. They're so muffled in comparison to the ambient stadium/crowd noise, and it seems like something that started really suddenly, like six weeks or so ago. It seems to be at every network -- TBS, MLB, ESPN, WGN, the Braves booth. I thought it was just a Braves thing at first, since I first noticed it @Cubs and thought "eh, old facilities, hard to soundproof broadcast booths, whaddaya gonna do." But then it seemed to spread to other broadcasts. Am I imagining this?

watching online, i assume that anything wrong is due to my connection/slow computer
