how fat was he in the years he was good, does it make a difference

ok so according to internet he weighed 270+ in 09 and was great, lost 20 lbs before 2010 and sucked, lost 40 lbs before 2011 and was great, and then stayed fat but played injured throughout 2012 and was not great. but i'm guessing the weight stuff is dumb and the injury was the main problem last year and i will be drafting the fuck out of him in fantasy.

He definitely wasn't awful before the injury! And the offseason after his awful 2010, he got fitted for contacts, I believe, meaning he hadn't been seeing clearly.

The Giants have extended the contracts of general manager Brian Sabean and manager Bruce Bochy through 2016, according to a team release. Dollar figures for the two contracts have not been released.

The Giants won World Series in 2010 and 2012, so it's not surprising the team would want to keep Sabean and Bochy in the fold. Sabean took over as general manager of the Giants in 1996 and has been on the job longer than any other active GM. Bochy has managed the Giants since 2007.

Posey and the Giants agreed to a nine-year, $167 million contract on Friday, one that covers his remaining arbitration years and buys out his first five years of free agency. The deal includes a $22 million club option for 2022 and a full no-trade clause, and could be worth up to $186 million.

Posey will receive a $7 million signing bonus and the following yearly salaries: $3 million in 2013, $10.5 million in 2014, $16.5 million in 2015, $20 million in 2016 and $21.4 million per year in 2017 through 2021. The deal also includes awards bonuses and a promise from Posey, who accepted the MVP award last November from a school fundraiser, to contribute $50,000 per year to Giants charities

If the Giants exercise the 2022 option, Posey would be 35 years old when the deal ends.

I exchanged texts with Aubrey Huff and Ryan Theriot tonight and both said the Giants have invited them to the April 7 World Series rings ceremony at AT&T Park. Huff is coming and Theriot is a maybe because of a prior commitment.

That got me wondering if the Giants invited Brian Wilson, who might have pitched only one game last year but was a full-fledged member of the championship team.

Indeed they did. Senior vice president of communications Staci Slaughter said the club has asked Wilson to come, but has not heard back.

Wilson, the closer on the 2010 World Series championship team, is rehabbing from his second Tommy John surgery last April. The Giants made him a free agent in December by not tendering a contract for 2013, a decision that supposedly upset the pitcher. The Giants said they wanted Wilson back, but not at the $6.9 million they would have been required to pay him had they tendered him a contract. They hoped to re-sign him to a deal with a lower base salary plus incentives.

Now, Wilson is thought to be waiting until the can throw at 100 percent before he throws for teams and attempts to negotiate a contract.

I’m sure Giants fans would love to see Wilson at the ring ceremony. The ball is in his court.

I was coming to the thread last night to say great game this series all season is gonna be awesome then I thought to myself why bother.

Just a reminder that the Giants have a 140 mil payroll, sixth most in baseball, and Giants fans are thus officially not allowed to complain about salaries.

of Lincecum's five innings, only one included fewer than two baserunners. seven walks and just 46 strikes in 91 pitches. the Dodgers were just 1 for 9 against Lincecum with runners in scoring position.

the Giants kept Pence and i'm very, very happy with this non move. sure i would have loved to have gotten some great prospects back for him but we needed him above any other free agent they will have this off season. so now i feel like he is a good as signed for next year and beyond.

Hunter Pence, Tim Lincecum and Javier Lopez all were placed on waivers Saturday and quickly claimed by clubs, according to a report by Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

But the chances remain remote that any of the three will be wearing another uniform by the end of the week.

i do like the Pence move, the Giants need this guy. they weren't going to go out to free agency and get anyone better.

Bee, as with Sabean, you like any multi-year signing of a guy who's 30+ and whose wheels fall off within two seasons (Huff, Scutaro, etc.).

that is how baseball works though, everyone is signing people to too long. Pence is 30 now and will be 35 when this contract is over. i think he will still be a pretty good player at 35.
