since there seem to be consensus favorites in 5/6 divisions, it'll be interesting to see who everyone gets wrong. I think both LA teams could be soft picks.

I didn't think there was much consensus about the west divisions at all, but I'd say that both LA teams won't make the playoffs (i.e. zero or one LA will make the playoffs, but not both).

After the Dodgers, I think more BP guys picked Ariz to win the NL West than the Giants. Some Texas picks in the AL, but I guess Hamilton's switch plus Troutlove makes LAA the trendy pick.

in the NL West, I can see LA winning the division by a surprising margin over SF. SF came out at 94-68 last year, but their pythagorean record was 88-74. i can see them winning around 88-89 this year, while LA leapfrogs them.

obv pythagorean isn't the be-all and end-all, but in this case it supports my hunch so hey. also, it provides my glimmer of hope in the NL central, as last year the reds outperformed their pythagorean record by 6 wins to land at 97 wins, while the cards underperformed theirs by 5 wins to land at 88 wins. if things even up a little this year it might be a tighter division race than expected.

xp I thought Hanson was basically thought to be stick a fork in done. Weaver obv great, but Wilson not that level and beyond those two it's basically meh.

vargas i think will be at least ok for them; innings eater at the v least

Small sample size hah. jk but I look at Hanson and Vargas and Blanton I don't think yeah that's a bottom half of solid rotation. Three years ago maybe, but now it looks pretty dubious.

xp ruggiano was just given platoon status. none of yr disappointments would surprise me at all, given the injury history there especially

was looking at some pre-2012 fantasy rankings and it was just scary how wrong it all was. namely the crushing disappointments. you can't really predict much of anything

I thought about making that into a poll. Rockies at 66-1 is nuts (i.e. Vegas is nuts to offer those odds) -- they're only 4.5 back and their division sucks. Cleveland at 25-1 is also tempting. They're a streaky team and Detroit is letting them hang around.
