You don't really see teams that go out of their way to forge an "identity" for themselves anymore. The pre-Pujols Angels sort of had one (free swinging, high-BA, not much power scrappy hustlers) and were successful for a long time with it. Before that there was ... I don't know, the Whitey Herzog Cardinals?

I think the angels got scrap cred because they were white - glaus, kennedy, erstad, salmon, eckstein, etc

I like the move. They made it known beforehand so the rule breakers got dealt with.

Appearantly the people bought the same seats last year and had no issue and the whole 'don't wear other teams colors' was not stated by the ticket agent for the club when they bought the tickets. Its not those fans fault there isn't any actual D-Backs fans that would actually outlay $3500 for those seats.

Yeah having people in some other team's colors doesn't look good on TV, but going out of your way to personally insult some paying fans is pretty dumb business too.

"I was sitting behind home plate that game and when it showed up on the Diamondvision of stuffing bananas down their throats, I felt like we were a punching bag," Towers told Arizona Sports 620's Burns and Gambo Tuesday. They represent the first graduating class in a program that's believed to be the first of its kind. For years, every major-league club has operated a Dominican academy where players as young as 16 begin their professional careers. The Diamondbacks' academy in Boca Chica is the first to also offer players a classroom education.
