If I make it to the states this year can I press-gang some of you to take me to a game? (so far only planning Chicago in October which might not be ideal)

the gingerman (next to the metro on clark, just north of wrigley) is the only non-jagbag place up there if you're looking for suggestions. better yet would be getting the hell out of wrigleyville but whatever, i'm easy.

Yeah I think colette might put something on the Chicago thread. Wouldn't mind visiting Wicker Park places like Rainbo and Holiday Star, or wherever the kids hang out nowadays.

wow, i was at both gold star and rainbo last week . and rainbo tonight. the neighborhood is changing, goldstar, which was one of the most reliable bars for most of the time i've lived here, is now either over run by bike messengers (early) or neighborhood douches who are out slumming (later). but again, whatever, i'm easy.

I like Rainbo better, but also totally open to suggestions.

It is very, very reassuring that ILXors still go to only the same handful of bars in Brooklyn and Chicago that we did 6 years ago.

Awesome! What seats do you recommend? Field Box ($15), Box ($13), Reserved Bleacher ($8), or GA Bleacher ($8)? Anyone else wanna go?

There are stay-in-your seats fireworks afterward, if it's any inducement.

I went Saturday and the Reserved Bleacher seats weren't so hot. The woman policing the section was needlessly authoritarian about the seat numbers, despite the section being about 1/3 full. Plus it's a long ways away from the action and the RF and t-shirt cannon guy were paying zero attention to us.

Who's interested in Marlins-Giants (zzzzz) on Aug. 19 or 20 at PacBell? I don't care a whole lot about either team, but I haven't been to the park yet.

eh yeah who cares about the teams bhut pac bell (or whatever its called now) is way up on my shortlist of parks to visit + maybe youll catch lincecum

I went by the ballpark last night because I spent the day in C.I. anyway, and I asked if tix were sold out and they said no. Either box seats or standing were available. I took a box but it was out between right field and third base and some big guy's head was blocking my view. Went shopping for T-shirts, came back and took a seat right behind home plate basically. There were tons of empty seats. I think even with standing room only seats, you can definitely pick a good seat near the field (at least after the third inning). The people there didn't seem to care at all. It was a kind of boring game as the Cyclones were ahead by a lot until the last inning when the Yankees starting getting all these hits and runs. Cyclones still managed to win it. Oh, why do they play all that music between every pitch? Kind of annoying.

Up for a visit to the S.I. ballfield now. Let's coordinate.
