Mets-Reds on Sat May 10 at 1:10? There's a single-game preview sale on Sun/Mon.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 28 February 2008 14:28 (eighteen years ago)

alas, acceptances are pouring in days after I have bought TWO (2) tickets... :(

Dr Morbius, Saturday, 8 March 2008 20:07 (eighteen years ago)

If I still lived in Kings county, Doc.

Wrigley is calling my name sometime in April.

felicity, Saturday, 8 March 2008 20:14 (eighteen years ago)

If I make it to the states this year can I press-gang some of you to take me to a game? (so far only planning Chicago in October which might not be ideal)

Mark C, Sunday, 9 March 2008 18:59 (eighteen years ago)

LOL!!!

Steve Shasta, Sunday, 9 March 2008 20:02 (eighteen years ago)

Barry: yes

Steve: That's rich coming from Barrytown.

felicity, Sunday, 9 March 2008 22:14 (eighteen years ago)

gabbneb would go to a mets game with a morbs, but might require lots of explanation of what all those funny men are doing with their sticks and cowparts

gabbneb, Monday, 10 March 2008 03:40 (eighteen years ago)

one month passes...

warm, Maine -- almost tempted to go Shea.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 10 April 2008 19:03 (seventeen years ago)

I'm not even going to Chicago any more so the White Sox triumphant journey to the world series will have to happen without me.

Mark C, Thursday, 10 April 2008 20:47 (seventeen years ago)

the temp in Flushing will drop 15 degrees during the game anyway...

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 10 April 2008 20:56 (seventeen years ago)

I am going to the Cubs-Pirates a week from Sunday. I think colette and toby are going too.

Chicago FAP at some point that weekend, probably Saturday.

felicity, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:17 (seventeen years ago)

^^that is a sunday postgame beer invitation to the chicago ILBBers BTW. Are there any?

felicity, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:34 (seventeen years ago)

i don't think there's anyone from chicago here.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:36 (seventeen years ago)

but, out of idle curiosity, where is this FAP to occur? i've heard good things about beer.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:36 (seventeen years ago)

mr. diamond is from the south side.

Steve Shasta, Thursday, 10 April 2008 22:11 (seventeen years ago)

rip k3rry

mookieproof, Thursday, 10 April 2008 22:44 (seventeen years ago)

Oh yeah thanks he wanted to eat beef sandwiches again in Southy that one time.

felicity, Thursday, 10 April 2008 22:54 (seventeen years ago)

Chicago kevin where you at?

felicity, Thursday, 10 April 2008 23:02 (seventeen years ago)

ukrainian village.

chicago kevin, Friday, 11 April 2008 02:29 (seventeen years ago)

I'll let you know when I hear back from colette and toby. Probably on the North Side.

felicity, Friday, 11 April 2008 02:39 (seventeen years ago)

the gingerman (next to the metro on clark, just north of wrigley) is the only non-jagbag place up there if you're looking for suggestions. better yet would be getting the hell out of wrigleyville but whatever, i'm easy.

chicago kevin, Friday, 11 April 2008 03:23 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah I think colette might put something on the Chicago thread. Wouldn't mind visiting Wicker Park places like Rainbo and Holiday Star, or wherever the kids hang out nowadays.

felicity, Friday, 11 April 2008 03:40 (seventeen years ago)

Gold star

felicity, Friday, 11 April 2008 03:41 (seventeen years ago)

wow, i was at both gold star and rainbo last week . and rainbo tonight. the neighborhood is changing, goldstar, which was one of the most reliable bars for most of the time i've lived here, is now either over run by bike messengers (early) or neighborhood douches who are out slumming (later). but again, whatever, i'm easy.

chicago kevin, Friday, 11 April 2008 05:24 (seventeen years ago)

I like Rainbo better, but also totally open to suggestions.

It is very, very reassuring that ILXors still go to only the same handful of bars in Brooklyn and Chicago that we did 6 years ago.

felicity, Friday, 11 April 2008 05:29 (seventeen years ago)

no it's not.

I'm glad I didn't go to 4-hr Mets game last night, even with happy ending.

Dr Morbius, Friday, 11 April 2008 13:22 (seventeen years ago)

It is very, very reassuring that ILXors are still contrarians.

felicity, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:37 (seventeen years ago)

fwiw, i'm going to o's v. jays on tuesday at camden if anyone's in the vicinity/cares. $8 upper reserved tix AND free adam jones tees!

j.q higgins, Friday, 11 April 2008 14:55 (seventeen years ago)

morbs has been to the bar by wrigley that i mentioned!

chicago kevin, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:02 (seventeen years ago)

I like Rainbo better, but also totally open to suggestions.

same. i've had to stop going to my local for a bit but a few of the regulars there are baseball obessives. lately when i've gone out for drinks in the neighborhood i've been going to inner town pub.

chicago kevin, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:05 (seventeen years ago)

I'm glad I didn't go to 4-hr Mets game last night, even with happy ending.

wow, how much do THOSE tickets cost?!?

chicago kevin, Friday, 11 April 2008 15:06 (seventeen years ago)

hahaha -- you have to wait for Citi Field for those. Looks too wet and cool for Mets game this weekend.

Dr Morbius, Friday, 11 April 2008 16:25 (seventeen years ago)

I thought Piazza had left the team

gabbneb, Friday, 11 April 2008 16:42 (seventeen years ago)

Chicago FAP at some point that weekend, probably Saturday.

chicago kevin, Monday, 14 April 2008 17:29 (seventeen years ago)

Mets (Figueroa) tom'w night, for the mild Shea temps?

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 18:08 (seventeen years ago)

be sure to be careful on the escalators

mizzell, Wednesday, 16 April 2008 19:36 (seventeen years ago)

felicity, Sunday, 20 April 2008 02:00 (seventeen years ago)

yeah, i was at rainbo when i got the text and my night was starting to take a turn for the surreal so i rode it out. i just got walked in the door now. sorry i missed you.

chicago kevin, Sunday, 20 April 2008 17:31 (seventeen years ago)

I just got 2 free tix for tonight's OAK vs. MIN 7:05pm game. Currently shopping around for a late taker, would any of you local guys have any interest?

Steve Shasta, Tuesday, 22 April 2008 20:45 (seventeen years ago)

one month passes...

I'm going to BALTIMORE on Sunday to see the Orioles get a taste of the Red Sox' Colon :D:D:D

G00blar, Friday, 30 May 2008 06:50 (seventeen years ago)

I hope they turn him into a semiColon.

Dr Morbius, Friday, 30 May 2008 13:19 (seventeen years ago)

i don't get it.

chicago kevin, Friday, 30 May 2008 15:15 (seventeen years ago)

mattbot, Monday, 9 June 2008 12:51 (seventeen years ago)

I laffed at whatever park dispenses kosher dogs via VENDING MACHINE. mmm-mmm...

Dr Morbius, Monday, 9 June 2008 14:15 (seventeen years ago)

i noticed no mention of that bbq place at camden - is it actually any good? did the guy just miss it?

gabbneb, Monday, 9 June 2008 17:56 (seventeen years ago)

by omission, he seems to prefer Manny Sanguillen's in Pittsburgh.

Dr Morbius, Monday, 9 June 2008 17:58 (seventeen years ago)

The Red Sox sell the kosher dogs in the machine.

ROFL at the U.S. Cellular entry.

felicity, Monday, 9 June 2008 18:23 (seventeen years ago)

The old Bank One Ballpark (now Chase Field) had these amazing strawberries and whipped cream. They don't have that anymore since the remodel.

felicity, Monday, 9 June 2008 18:27 (seventeen years ago)

ya we could do the 25th?

Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 18:24 (seventeen years ago)

Awesome! What seats do you recommend? Field Box ($15), Box ($13), Reserved Bleacher ($8), or GA Bleacher ($8)? Anyone else wanna go?

Virginia Plain, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 20:04 (seventeen years ago)

I might be up for the 25th (have the Mets the next night).

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 20:12 (seventeen years ago)

There are stay-in-your seats fireworks afterward, if it's any inducement.

Virginia Plain, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 20:28 (seventeen years ago)

I went Saturday and the Reserved Bleacher seats weren't so hot. The woman policing the section was needlessly authoritarian about the seat numbers, despite the section being about 1/3 full. Plus it's a long ways away from the action and the RF and t-shirt cannon guy were paying zero attention to us.

mattbot, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 20:40 (seventeen years ago)

Who's interested in Marlins-Giants (zzzzz) on Aug. 19 or 20 at PacBell? I don't care a whole lot about either team, but I haven't been to the park yet.

Rock Hardy, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 21:06 (seventeen years ago)

eh yeah who cares about the teams bhut pac bell (or whatever its called now) is way up on my shortlist of parks to visit + maybe youll catch lincecum

deeznuts, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 21:10 (seventeen years ago)

Hmm . . . not sure I can get excited about PacBell, but pencil me in for any Mets games.

Virginia Plain, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 21:41 (seventeen years ago)

that beautiful brick ballpark overlooking the san francisco bay isnt all that, but shea stadium? count me in!

deeznuts, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 21:45 (seventeen years ago)

a WINNING TEAM makes the diff

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 21:56 (seventeen years ago)

that annual mets collapse can not come soon enough.

Steve Shasta, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 22:21 (seventeen years ago)

Backwards team allegiance . . . a little unconventional, but I like it!

Rock Hardy, AT&T is a beautiful park. You should definitely try to see a game there.

felicity, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 22:48 (seventeen years ago)

i'm interested in cyclones+fireworks, but more than philip glass?

gabbneb, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 03:07 (seventeen years ago)

I would go to cyclones but I don't think I could make it to Coney after work by 7pm. I can make it to Mets though. COZY SHACK PUDDING!

Yerac, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 11:06 (seventeen years ago)

that's KOZY

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 13:37 (seventeen years ago)

15 dollar tix all the way

how shall we handle this?

Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 16:08 (seventeen years ago)

The field boxes on that Fri night (vs SI Yanks) look gone to me, no?

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 16:21 (seventeen years ago)

I myself am eyeing 8/6 bravos vs. giants daygame @ at&t...never been either. anyone have rec's on where's best to sit?

johnny crunch, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 16:37 (seventeen years ago)

figures xp

Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 19:32 (seventeen years ago)

Yea, looks like the field tix are gone now, should we do reserved bleacher, or ga in case more people decide to come? If we do reserved bleacher, I can get the tix.

Virginia Plain, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 23:24 (seventeen years ago)

whichevs! Sign me up!

Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved, Thursday, 17 July 2008 00:44 (seventeen years ago)

Dr. M: should I get you a ticket?

Virginia Plain, Thursday, 17 July 2008 14:24 (seventeen years ago)

If possible, yes, but I think we're looking at another night -- 7/25 looks sold out.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 17 July 2008 19:27 (seventeen years ago)

I can't go to a ballgame THIS Friday, but look what the Newark Bears have planned:

http://newarkbears.com/schedule/promotional/

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 17 July 2008 19:33 (seventeen years ago)

Argh, all that's available now is standing room.

Virginia Plain, Thursday, 17 July 2008 20:08 (seventeen years ago)

sro is gay

Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved, Thursday, 17 July 2008 22:27 (seventeen years ago)

i believe there are field boxes and fireworks on the 24th

gabbneb, Friday, 18 July 2008 04:13 (seventeen years ago)

Yea I figured standing room was no good. Maybe we can get lucky on Craigslist.

Virginia Plain, Saturday, 19 July 2008 18:23 (seventeen years ago)

Maybe we can get lucky on Craigslist.

i think that only works with casual encounters.

chicago kevin, Saturday, 19 July 2008 23:27 (seventeen years ago)

I went by the ballpark last night because I spent the day in C.I. anyway, and I asked if tix were sold out and they said no. Either box seats or standing were available. I took a box but it was out between right field and third base and some big guy's head was blocking my view. Went shopping for T-shirts, came back and took a seat right behind home plate basically. There were tons of empty seats. I think even with standing room only seats, you can definitely pick a good seat near the field (at least after the third inning). The people there didn't seem to care at all. It was a kind of boring game as the Cyclones were ahead by a lot until the last inning when the Yankees starting getting all these hits and runs. Cyclones still managed to win it. Oh, why do they play all that music between every pitch? Kind of annoying.

Up for a visit to the S.I. ballfield now. Let's coordinate.

Virginia Plain, Saturday, 26 July 2008 13:34 (seventeen years ago)

i am down for the latter half od this week?

Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved, Saturday, 26 July 2008 16:35 (seventeen years ago)

Sun Aug 3 at 6 pm--Cyclones at Yankees?

Virginia Plain, Saturday, 26 July 2008 17:21 (seventeen years ago)

working, probably won't be back in time :(

Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved, Saturday, 26 July 2008 17:27 (seventeen years ago)

Boo. There's the same gay Friday night, but I don't see how I could make that, unless I call in sick. . . .

Virginia Plain, Saturday, 26 July 2008 17:35 (seventeen years ago)

I leave for family gathering next Friday. Anything doing Wed night or Thurs?

VP, you seem like a time traveller who is used to the halcyon games of 1956.

Dr Morbius, Saturday, 26 July 2008 17:57 (seventeen years ago)

There are very likely things happening Wed and Thurs--but how are those of us who work in Queens until 6 p.m. supposed to partake?

I guess I'm used to '80s baseball--my how times have changed. I was pleased with Giants Stadium when I went to see soccer--the food and beer offerings hadn't been all yuppified like in DC's RFK.

Virginia Plain, Saturday, 26 July 2008 18:04 (seventeen years ago)

Oh, and 'God Bless America' during the 7th inning stretch? Really?

Virginia Plain, Saturday, 26 July 2008 18:18 (seventeen years ago)

can't do sundays, but many other nights are good

mookieproof, Saturday, 26 July 2008 18:37 (seventeen years ago)

Cyclones vs Batavia, Sat night at 6?

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 6 August 2008 15:48 (seventeen years ago)

Billy Wagner pitches in Coney Saturday! but I have other plans.

What about Sunday at 5 (Carl Erskine bobblehead/tribute)?

Dr Morbius, Friday, 15 August 2008 14:42 (seventeen years ago)

8/6 bravos vs. giants daygame @ at&t

^this worked out v. well btw

johnny crunch, Friday, 15 August 2008 15:03 (seventeen years ago)

Is this Coney? I could be down. But when is the Staten Island trip?

I think I will get tix for Mets Summer Reading night after all!

Virginia Plain, Friday, 15 August 2008 18:35 (seventeen years ago)

throw out some SI dates, somebody.

flash: Wagner NOT pitching in Coney. Hates fun.

Dr Morbius, Saturday, 16 August 2008 19:04 (seventeen years ago)

I'll be at the Giants game either tomorrow night or Wednesday. Post here if anyone wants to meet up.

Rock Hardy, Monday, 18 August 2008 20:33 (seventeen years ago)

Joe Sheehan of Baseball Prospectus:

Not to be all Will Carroll here, but Jay Jaffe, Derek Jacques and I, among others, will be at tonight’s Brooklyn Cyclones game. If you’re around and want to talk some baseball, or just ask Jay why Joe Maddon bites his style, swing by the first-base side and I’m sure you’ll find us. (And yes, I’m annoyed that we missed Brad Holt by a day.)

Dr Morbius, Friday, 29 August 2008 17:43 (seventeen years ago)
