johnny crunch, Monday, 15 July 2013 12:39 (twelve years ago)

answer is marlon byrd btw

johnny crunch, Monday, 15 July 2013 12:40 (twelve years ago)

Tempted to answer Arencibia, who's only scheduled to draw nine more walks this year. (If you start to Google his name, he's moved ahead of J.P. Morgan to the top of the auto-complete list. I guess that's something.)

clemenza, Monday, 15 July 2013 13:28 (twelve years ago)

There's something about Kyle Seager this year where I can just see him having a monster second half and coming close to the top of this list. It'd help if he woke up tomorrow and Safeco was anywhere but Seattle, but hey, the guy's pretty durable and isn't going to sit like some of these guys might, so what the heck? He's my vote because Votto Fielder etc are boring picks & I'll look like a genius if this somehow happens.

I've Seen rRootage (Will M.), Monday, 15 July 2013 14:58 (twelve years ago)

surprised Fielder "only" has 16 at this point.

Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Monday, 15 July 2013 15:03 (twelve years ago)

I'd probably go with Prince Fielder by his age, background and who bats in front of him being the one that could bust out and get hot out of the vets with big power numbers on the list. Pujols is banged up and eventually when the Angels are to the write it off part of the season, I got to think he might shut it down. Gonzales plays in Dodger stadium which is a pretty spacious HR park.

Joey Votto- to an extent, it seems club are more than willing to play into Vottomatic's patience and just walk him and pitch to Phillips then Bruce. I don't think it is at that crazy level like Barry Bonds got towards in the 'roid ERA, but I'd figure Votto makes the most of his fat pitches he gets. Votto is unusual for some power hitters that he likes to get into counts and guess right on clobbering off speed stuff.

A lot of these other guys on the list are in big career years for power and even getting to 30 for a bunch of them would be an achievement.

Can't see Pence doing it.

Van Horn Street, Tuesday, 16 July 2013 12:59 (twelve years ago)

I can't see Gattis getting the ABs to manage it.

WilliamC, Tuesday, 16 July 2013 13:02 (twelve years ago)

I think what Gattis does in the second half will fit into what the Brave's decide to do with Bryan McCann. If he actually hits free agency, that will be a guy I think a lot of clubs will look to sign. I got to think McCann would be a guy the Red Sox or White Sox try to go get.

earlnash, Tuesday, 16 July 2013 22:35 (twelve years ago)

As good a Brave as McCann's been, I do think it would be smart for Wren to let another team write that big fat check.

schlock corridor (WilliamC), Tuesday, 16 July 2013 23:14 (twelve years ago)

I said that to some guy I struck up a conversation with at the Cubs game Saturday, and he gave me a long sour "have you never heard of loyalty?" look.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

i wanna be a gabbneb baby (Hungry4Ass), Thursday, 18 July 2013 02:26 (twelve years ago)

did we do this for most hrs this season overall w/ current hr leaders?

Mordy , Friday, 19 July 2013 00:09 (twelve years ago)

I would think Davis is a cinch for 50-55, maybe more, and therefore a cinch for most overall.
