Yeah but the Rangers kind of have Price's number:

from BP preview:

On this side of the lineup card, the most intriguing matchup will be how Perez handles the man he will be looking up at in AL Rookie of the Year voting this off-season: Wil Myers. Since they’ve reached the big leagues, Perez and Myers have not faced each other; however, while they were both in Triple-A last summer, Myers went 3-5 off Perez with two doubles. By itself that’s just a fun fact, but when digging into their tendencies, it becomes clear that this is a strength-versus-strength matchup. Perez has relied on the changeup as his out pitch, generating a whiff rate of over 39 percent—as has been the case ever since he was levied Johan Santana comps as a 17-year-old in the Northwest League. Enter Myers, who is hitting .347/.427/.488 in games where the starting pitcher has been a southpaw. On top of that, he’s also been worth 3.5 runs above average against the changeup in his abbreviated 2013 season and is hitting .350 against ones thrown by left-handers.

Maddon was hoping to see Delmon in this exact first-inning situation.

Andy K, Tuesday, 1 October 2013 00:14 (twelve years ago)

How short is the leash here? Could be entertaining to see Wash go to the bullpen right away.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Tuesday, 1 October 2013 00:14 (twelve years ago)

The leash is always short on TIEBREAKER MONDAY.

Andy K, Tuesday, 1 October 2013 00:17 (twelve years ago)

Rooting for TX in this one.

Ah, you're in the booth then WilliamC?

ha, not sure what this means -- are the TBS booth guys in the bag for TX? I haven't been listening to the game closely. I'm just an Escobar hater + Mitch Moreland fan, no other reasons. I like Joe Maddon, so I'm not real ardent in my preference in this game.

cops on horse (WilliamC), Tuesday, 1 October 2013 00:38 (twelve years ago)

Jennings is on the mend, first game back from a pulled hammy I think. Hit a double in the first AB of this game but got thrown out at 2nd because he was not at full speed.

Maddon went outside his house to grab the paper, saw him bouncing a super ball off the curb, asked him if he'd like to play some baseball.

This was not a postseason game, it was blacked out live per contract. I zipped thru the archive when I got home at 1 a.m.

Miss Arlington twirls for the Coal Heavers (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 1 October 2013 12:09 (twelve years ago)

Thank you, Ron Washington, for introducing me to the phrase "put a body on the bag" as a stand-in for "get on base."

Miss Arlington twirls for the Coal Heavers (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 1 October 2013 12:34 (twelve years ago)

i didn't see that pick off play in the first inning live as i got home late. however they were going over it on MLB Network and i call bush league. so i say obstruction, you just don't play that way.

xxpost

Bee OK, Tuesday, 1 October 2013 13:34 (twelve years ago)

was it more or less bush league than pretending you'd caught a ball on the fly

After the 6th inning I got blacked out.

Van Horn Street, Tuesday, 1 October 2013 16:00 (twelve years ago)

well ya got me there; I don't think you were sposed to see any of it live aside from TBS's God-given cable-box delivery.

Miss Arlington twirls for the Coal Heavers (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 1 October 2013 16:17 (twelve years ago)

i was able to watch it on mlb.tv, but only by using a non-north american proxy

mookieproof, Tuesday, 1 October 2013 16:19 (twelve years ago)
