Worst episode ever :(

Well done to Carlton today at Optus Oval but I'd put the champers on ice for the mo though because in all my years watching Geelong today's effort was without doubt THE worst performance I have ever seen from them.

There's no point bringing out the excuse book, our skills are poor, our squad has no depth, there was no discipline and week after week we are specialising in playing dumb(ass)football. Even Richmond have worked out you can't kick to one forward and Richo has a lot more career goals on the board than Kent Kingsley.

Get your money on us now for the spoon because on today's efforts we would be lucky to win a game all year. The only thing I hate more than Robert KnoWalls being wrong is when he is right so not a happy camper at the moment. Don't bother paying out Geelong, leave that to us poor supporters who get served up this slop year after year.

Sheesh!

OK, Carlton's opposition yesterday was lousy but you don't choose your opponent. For the last two years it hasn't mattered how crap the team we were playing was, we haven't been able to put anybody away by nine goals, in fact most times we've found a way of being crapper.

It raises the possibility of more wins, maybe even against better teams than Geelong fielded. After two rounds my prediction of 11th for Carlton is looking bang on course.

xpost: Apparently Thommo is tied up for another two years, so he's safe for this year at least, especially seeing as Geelong's still not exactly rolling in money.

Geelong looked ok in the Harry Potter Cup - where has it gone all wrong?

Injury is obviously killing them at this stage, with no 100 gamers taking the field last weekend, but is that the entire problem? can Bomber coach? I noticed Peter Street played pretty well for the Bulldogs on Saturday - do Geelong trade away all their good young players?

Bennö (Bennö), Sunday, 4 April 2004 23:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes Geelong do trade away their young and not so young talent, and why not? Every single player is just dying to come and play for Geelong from Misiti, McKernan to Jade Rawlings. Clint Bizzell is braining them in defence for the Demons while Grgic is kicking off the dew in some neville no-name comp. Great work that.

Can Bomber coach? Well, I'm starting to doubt it. How many times does that numbnuts Cam Mooney have to fail up forward before Thompson tries Ling on the forward line? Instead he just left Ling to be double teamed and his possessions didn't hurt the Blues at all.

Players like Enright and Corey took huge strides backwards yesterday and now even Matty Scarlett is playing crap. As for Peter Street, well, we got rid of him and got Loats who has played about 12 games in four seasons due to injury. We've already got an injured ruckman you blokes :(

I've always stood by my Cats but yesterday I became one of the non-believers. I felt sick in my guts watching that crap yesterday and if the players don't feel even worse then they should get jobs and leave their spots open to people who want to play league football.

regards,

REB

Another sidelight to Sunday's game: Now that a team as crapola as Carlton has beaten the 'Perth bogey', maybe we'll hear a bit less about it from now on. Which would be no bad thing.

There has been at least one WA team in the competition since 1987 and two since 1995, but only in 2003 did the 'problem' of recovering after a flight to Perth suddenly become obvious. I'd always needed a lot of convincing.
