A lot of Monty Python stuff has aged badly or lost its power through repetition but the sketch where Hitler, Goebbels and Rommel are hiding out in a B&B plotting their return remains gold. Not...much...fun in Stalingrad, no.

Like, are we talking early Hitler, or late Hitler? I mean there's a difference. If you're gonna put Hitler on a postage stamp, would you go with his early hip-swinging Beer Hall Putsch era, or would it be his late "Fat Hitler" Nero Decree Gotterdammerung-in-Vegas era?

There’s yet another documentary series on now … this one has audio recordings from Nuremberg and text from Shirer’s books … a lot of documentary footage but some re-enactments that look weird in the context of the real footage, especially since a lot has been colorized.
There is a scene in the first episode with Hitler & Eva, and the actor is a bit too thin and young-looking imo … not as awkward as some of the BBC ones where you recognize the actors from blokey bit parts in cop shows.

i love when they make a movie on hitler and it's just, like, alec guinness. said that was his favorite role to play, guinness did. hitler. i mean, on the one hand yes, but on the other hand, that's like being an actor and saying their favorite role to play was the one where they got their tits out. oh god, did i just compare hitler to boobs? i'm not saying that to put down boobs. it's more that an actor plays someone like hitler on screen and they get acclaimed for it disproportionately, i'd say, to the amount of acclaim actors get for getting their tits out on screen.
richard basehart played hitler on screen too! i haven't seen his performance, though. maybe in the trailer. i don't know.
has anyone seen the 1966 film "is paris burning?" i guess it's about the liberation of paris. i guess that makes sense, but i'd like to think of it as a combination of "paris is burning" and the "is lupin burning?", the first episode of the long-running _lupin iii_ anime.
now that i'm thinking of it, i'm reminded of the pilot film from the '60s or '70s for an unmade "alice in wonderland" adaptation where hitler voiced the king of hearts. i mean this is kind of what i mean when i talk about people who get praised for playing hitler on film.

alice in wonderland on film is an more interesting topic to me than hitler on film. like, "miyuki-chan in wonderland", the low-budget yuri ova with Clamp character designs. hitler is just like... i mean once you've had hitler do the lambeth walk, what can you really do with hitler? i do think the intro to "tomorrow i'll wake up and scald myself with tea" is an improvement on lambeth walk hitler, but i mean, they had 40 years, of course it would be. if they'd had disco funk in the '30s they wouldn't have had hitler doing the lambeth walk.
