I think Hird should be suspended for a couple of weeks for his outburst on the Footy Show, to have a whinge about umpiring is one thing, but to mention him by name on national T.V. is just stupid. Wrong place wrong time, James.

Dumb is never a word I'd use to describe James Hird. And one of his saving graces over the years (besides his quality as a player) has been that he is in no way Sheedy's mouthpiece or anybody else's and never has been. Obviously Hird believes his own words, but just as obviously (and this is what would have me pounding desks demanding answers if I was an Essendon supporter) it wasn't wholly his idea and wasn't a spur of the moment action.

So whose was it?

I will qualify that by saying that what he said was dumb, I wouldn't call James dumb either. The man is my favourite footballer of all-time after all! :-)

Sheedy said today that nobody has put him up to it and that it came of his own bat. I would believe Sheeds as he is never backwards in cfoming forward and has never needed a puppet to air his or the clubs views.

The AFL is overanalysied (bet that's spelt wrong) by an ever expanding media pirhana pool all looking for that 'fresh' (ho ho) angle off the field. On the field we've got miked-up umpires umpiring technicaly with a shortage of 'feel' for the game. By this rate we could be up to Dumbass 56 by round 10.
