The Stand-out Names from the 2003 Draft

Brisbane's Laane 'Canna Hand a Man a Granda' Spaandermann has to be the gold medallist. Bulldog pup Farren Ray (who sounds like a JR Ewing henchman) comes in second, while Josh 'Freddie' Kreuger gets the bronze, and the most obvious nickname.

Tom Logan, also drafted by Brisbane, has made such an impression in a short time than he has already had the main drag to Ipswich named after him.

Didn't Tim Schmidt, drafted by Sydney, play with the Eagles for a while?

Doubtless Carlton and Kangaroos fans, respectively, will be looking forward to seeing Andrew Walker and David Trotter break into a good gallop next year.

Kevin 'Mastermind' Sheedy's specialist topic for 2003 was 'Stodgy Australian Opening Batsmen From The 80's', and so Essendon drafted Kepler Bradley and Ricky Dyson.

Of course you're right, Schmidt never played for the Eagles.

Just like Paul McCartney never played for the Beatles.
