Strange year.

Two teams I hate more than most are Port Power and the Canterbury Bulldogs, but I have really enjoyed both of their wins this year in their respective GF's because of what both clubs have been through and the shit that the media and the general public have heaped on them. Good luck to them, they are both deserving winners of their comps.

If they both win next year I will be sick, though.Lol

Whats this hatred with the power, chrisso,

I really can't stand Choco. I have always found him pretty arrogant and he just really gets on my nerves, he has that sort of personality sometimes. Port have also been giving Essendon a fair drtubbing on the footy field the last few years, so that may have something to mdo with it. But the main reason is that they took away my favourite player from Essendon, Gavin Wanganeen, I will never forgive them for that. I can't blame him for going home, but I was gutted when he left us. As a kid he was my hero. Having said that I was rapt for him on GF day, his goals in the last quarter had me standing on my feet cheering for the bloke. I know how much it meant to him.

Dont forget you took the champ from us as a kid, when he was only 17 and we only had the pleasure of seeing a few games.

Thinking about it, I don't really think I can hate Port anymore as they have restored my faith in footy. Before the Grand Final I was pretty fed up with Brisbane and the advantage the AFL was giving them and I really wasn't enjoying watching them stroll towards another flag, I felt cheated. I was absolutely elated when Port beat them in the Grand Final, so for that I will owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude.

Just on Wanganeen, if he had of stayed at Essendon he would be loved equally as much as Hird is, and held in the same regard. Best footballers I have ever seen play at Essendon.

Well as no other Victorian team could do it - they don't travel enough to be hard enough - it was always going to be another non-Victorian team that would beat us. Supposedly the best of the best i.e. Essendon and twice Collingwood couldn't do it so they bought in the hard nuts!!

lol
As I've already said congratulations to Port they play extremely well

What would you suggest, Lucy? Perhaps we could start moving some teams from Victoria to Queensland? Is that what you're suggesting?

Port Adelaide is focusing on Essendon's Mark Johnson as a possible replacement for departing premiership hero Josh Carr.

The Power contacted Johnson's management last night as speculation mounted the Bomber would be part of a three-way deal to get Carr to Fremantle.

Under a deal mooted yesterday, the Bombers would receive pick No. 11 and youngster Ryley Dunn from Fremantle in return for Johnson.

Port, frustrated by the lack of quality players offered by the Dockers, would then receive Johnson to replace the tough Carr.

Dockers football operations manager Steven Icke yesterday confirmed Essendon could yet be a surprise third party in the Carr deal.

But any deal is a long way from done, with Johnson's manager Michael Quinlan surprised by the speculation given the 2002 best-and-fairest winner has one year of a contract to run. "I have had a brief discussion with Port Adelaide -- they have registered their interest," Quinlan said.

No Chrisso we couldn't sustain another team in Qld just yet, but maybe the 10 Victorian teams could travel to Perth and Adelaide and Sydney and Brisbane more often. Now I know you're going to say Essendon is travelling to Perth etc etc but you don't travel out of Victorian more than 5 times. Whereas Adelaide teams, WA Teams, Sydney and Brisbane travel out of there home state at least 10 times.

So, tell me Lucy, how would this work? How would you organise the draw to facilitate this? I would love to know.

Cut out some of the blockbusters!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Thursday, 7 October 2004 22:25 (twenty years ago)

Which one's, and how do you propose the AFL makes up for the loss of income if these blockbusters are cut.

I'm a bit young to remember much of Timmy's career, only saw the end of it as a kid.

chrisso (chrisso), Friday, 8 October 2004 04:41 (twenty years ago)

REB, as greater player watson was he's a rung below wangas, who is clearly the best of his race to ever play the game

jsa, Friday, 8 October 2004 04:43 (twenty years ago)

I dare you to say that again Chrisso!! lol

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Friday, 8 October 2004 04:54 (twenty years ago)

I dare you to give me an answer.

chrisso (chrisso), Friday, 8 October 2004 04:57 (twenty years ago)

Who gives a flying fart what games are designayed 'blockbusters' by the AFL and what games aren't? To whatever very limited extent the whole concept isn't a complete wank, the punters define 'blockbusters' by deciding what games they park their arse in front of and which games they don't. They don't need Andy's guidance on that.
