Lucky me I'll be there to see them...

This weekend's round of matches is a part of the AFL's Heritage Week celebrations.

Brisbane will honour their roots by wearing the jumper used by the Bears between 1992 and 1996, a time when the team emerged from its days of being called the "bad news" Bears.

Voss said the jumper had a lot of good memories for him.

"I've achieved winning the Brownlow medal in 1996, so the last time I wore it I've got some really good memories," he said.

"Playing finals football, the first opportunity I got to do that, the first time that I played my first game was in this jersey so a lot of firsts there for me."

Will we ever get to see that wonderful puce-pink number, with the triangle map of Queensland and the stripe around the waist that didn't quite go all the way round? (In Brad Hardie's case it barely got halfway.) Was that stripe a subtle hint from the late, lamentable Skasie that he was struggling to make ends meet?

Whatever, that was the most woeful jumper of all time, INCLUDING the worst of Hawthorn's pre-season efforts.

Steady on Fred, I've got one of those beauty's.

You forgot to mention the snarling koala head in the SE corner of the map. And don't forget the reverse strip of more maroon than gold, it was actully preferred by the players.

I'm sure we will see it at some stage of the heritage week in years to come.

I think some of the early Fitzroy jumpers will be rippers, last years was great.

I'm really pleased they've chosen this particular jumper. Hope they have a good win in it.

Go the Bears!

Tips

Adelaide v Kangaroos - Adelaide to finally get a win
Carlton v Fremantle - Freo learning to win away so the Dockers - Just!
Collingwood v Richmond - the "Who Cares Cup" (according to NIRS) love it but such mediocrity should see Richmond finally rewarded
Essendon v Port Adelaide - Essendon
Sydney v Brisbane - Brisbane to win with pride of the Bears Jumper
Geelong - St Kilda - Geelong to help Brisbane stay at the top of the table
Melbourne v Hawthorn - Think Hawthorn have a chance here
West Coast v Bulldogs - West Coast

Now a true heritage round would see a yesterdays heroes match - or maybe teams allowed to bring back any retired player for the week.

Could you imagine Doug Hawkins returning for the Doggies??? :)
