Brisbane have re-allocated Marcus Ashcroft's number 10 to a new draft pick, I think they should have retired it for at least this season.

COLLINGWOOD has shelved moves to reissue Darren Millane's No. 42 after club officials met his family yesterday.
The club had planned to present the late Magpie midfielder's number to the club's first draft pick each season -- starting with Tasmanian Billy Morrison. But it has reconsidered after Millane's mother Denise and brother Sean spoke in yesterday's Herald Sun of their distress at the sudden decision.
While the Pies ponder their next move, Herald Sun readers sent an overwhelming message to Victoria Park in a phone poll yesterday.
They firmly believe the famed guernsey should be left in retirement, with 467 callers voting against its reissue and 108 for its reinstatement.

But if every Collingwood (for instance) legend's number was permanently retired, young Morrison might be wearing number 250-something next year. Tony Shaw (let alone his nephew, who still has much to do to prove himself worthy) would never have worn Bob Rose's 22, Peter McCormack and the succession of duds that followed him (up to and including the ankle-tapping little mongrel who currently has it) would have had some other number besides Peter McKenna's 6, and Presti's 35 would remain the exclusive domain of Peter Daicos.
The only modern parallel to the Millane situation I can think of was Peter Crimmins' No 5 at Hawthorn. After it became clear that neither of his sons would play AFL, the number was given to Andy Collins who had been a student at the primary school where Crimmo had taught. Collins wore the number for the last five or six years of a distinguished career, and then it was passed on to Daniel Harford.

Millane's was retired for special reasons, such was the esteem in which he was held and i, even tho i hate that mob, am glad they have changed their minds.
Your freakish lucy and at least consistent, even the ability to relate the millane issue back to a lions issue.

"Brisbane have re-allocated Marcus Ashcroft's number 10 to a new draft pick, I think they should have retired it for at least this season."
This does not constitute 'forever'. As a mark of respect to the player over 300 games for Marcus no other Qld player has done this, it reeks of "we've passed you over already Marcus, thanks for the memories now piss off!

JSA
I support the Brisbane Lions and live in Queensland we have no other team up here why would I talk about anything else. Not like we get inundated with information about any other team up here, in fact we get little of our own team.
I have a solution for your JSA if you take such offence at me posting about the team I support passionately - then don't bloody read them.

JSA just don't open anything that is from me, because it will always be about the Lions.
