Cripes. He doesn't muck about does he? I couldn't believe that the Tiggers drafted Marsh and that they didn't delist Houlahan after last season in any case. You have to feel sorry for Brittan though, given the ar5e twice in threee years DOH.

Can't believe they keep hold of Sookie Bubba Richardson, he would have been the first one I got rid of. Yeah I like Wayne Brittain, he's probably far too talented for the likes of Richmond though.

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 00:58 (twenty years ago) link

Richo is probably the best thing going for them ATM.

That's how bad it is.

chrisso (chrisso), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 01:57 (twenty years ago) link

Richmond are first cab off the rank but all clubs will do the same sometime in the next six weeks. So everybody: who might find themself on the Big A List at your club?

At Carlton, Lance Whitnall's name has been mentioned as possible trade bait, and I'd guess it's all over for Darren Hulme. Franchina (yes, he was there this year) is a no-brainer. Likewise Clarke, Mott and probably Kenna from this year's recruits. Luke Livingston and Justin Davies may have saved their spots with good late-season performances. I flagged Houlihan before the second-last match because I thought he'd been dropped. It turns out he was injured, but I still don't think he's 100% safe.

In Collingwoods case, the bulletin boards are calling for the sacking on Rhyce Shaw, Ben Kinnear, Cheesy O'Bree and various others...

Great - who would want any of them?

Collingwood have no trade bait unless they want to get rid of Fraser or Tarrent - the rest are too old, or too slow, or not worth much on the open market...

Bennö (Bennö), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 02:03 (twenty years ago) link

One bloke at Collingwood other clubs might be interested in is Walker. With Fraser now established as the no 1, Rocca to come back, and that other new kid who did OK in the ruck (so well I can't remember his name, no 21 I think), also to come back (and presumably heavier) next season, Collingwood are running out of spots they can play him.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 02:14 (twenty years ago) link

On various Catter boards the talk is for getting rid of McCarthy, Chambers, Loats and Spriggs. Spriggs would be juicy trade bait and the Catters probably need a genuine full forward. Kent Kingsley isn't a geniune FF but has done a reasonable job playing out of position...just wish he could bloody kick straight.

There is considerable talk about the worth of trying to entice Whitnall or Ottens to Geelong but it sort of goes against our recent 'grow your own' strategy that has worked well for us in recent times. We've got a surplus of on-ballers and for mine I think raiding the West Coast's young talls could be worth a shot in a three way deal with Adelaide as Tyson Stenglien is as good as gone.

It could be Stenglien to West Coast, Spriggs to Adelaide and Ashley Hansen to Geelong. What do you think Bruce?

Massie looks gone at Addledville too. Bit of a shame really. I was hoping after last year he'd keep going and really bite a few of my fave Carlton people on the bum.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 02:49 (twenty years ago) link

I hope they get rid of Henneman. It is also time for Mercuri to retire.

I wouldn't be surprised if they used someone like M.Johnson for trade bait. I'm expecting a few surprises this summer.

chrisso (chrisso), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 02:54 (twenty years ago) link

Only one I'd trade from Brisbane right now is McLaren. With Charman and McDonald due back next season and Spaandermann up and coming, McLaren's best is probably not quite good enough. The only other I would questions regarding consistent contribution is Caracella, but he has vastly more potential then McLaren and if they do re-sign him I think he has settled and acclimatised quite well.

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 02:55 (twenty years ago) link

BTW I bet Blumfield ends up going back to Essendon.

chrisso (chrisso), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 02:58 (twenty years ago) link

Chrisso, it'd at least be appropriate for 'Misty & Murky' to go out together. Didn't they grow up in the same street?

They're mad if they ditch a bloke like Johnson. With all those young blokes coming up in the next couple of years they're going to need all the hard-cases they can find.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 03:04 (twenty years ago) link

We need some speed, Fred. We need some young guy's with gas and if that means making a few sacrifices, then so be it. We are too slow to compete with the top sides at the moment.

Yes, both Mercs and Joey grew up in Keilor Park IIRC.

chrisso (chrisso), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 03:47 (twenty years ago) link

"We need some young guy's with gas"

There must be about 100 jokes in that one REB.Lol.

chrisso (chrisso), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 04:29 (twenty years ago) link

Young fella you were referring to was Guy Richards, who had a good season until getting injured. He's the only genuine ruckman on the Collingwood list (allowing that Steve McKee will be delisted in the very near future). Cameron Cloke went all right until he too copped a season ending injury.

Jason Cloke is one paced and fairly ordinary. Which doesn't auger well for a trade - and I'm sure David Cloke would spit the dummy if the oldest boy was shafted by Collingwood

Bennö (Bennö), Wednesday, 1 September 2004 05:16 (twenty years ago) link

Yes Chrisso, but if you overdo the fart jokes you end up in the shit LOL.

Shafted by Collingwood. OUCH. There's gotta be TWO hundred jokes in that line LOL.

Roos losing David King - good player always seems to get under the radar then kick a goal from 60 out.

Shane Crawford no longer Hawthorn Captain. Bit disappointing really!
