Ladies and Gentlemen it is all speculation and innuendo. Crawf will remain at Hawthorn and complete is contract (next two years). He may even play on after Leigh Matthews returns home.

"He may even play on after Leigh Matthews returns home."

Somehow can't see Shane still playing when he's 103.

Leigh Matthews is home.

The Hawks are a shambles.

Who would have thought a previous superpower of the AFL could fall so low, so quickly...

LL

One bad season does not condone a club to the bottom of the barrel.

Collingwood have a coach, there is no coup in the boardroom, and we're not going broke... The Hawks are struggling with all three, and now the skipper has quit and wants to play elsewhere.

Will the Lions EVER have a bad season, or is that bad for AFL?

Bennö (Bennö), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 05:32 (twenty years ago)

Ok OK Benno I accept Hawthorn is definitely in a bad way - sorry! (Don't expect me to say that too often.

As for the Brisbane having a bad season - try checking 1987 - 1998 not too many fabulous years in there!

I asked about the Brisbane Lions LL, not the Bad-News Bears...

From Fred's favourite writer in the Oz.
Clarkson must wait for some time now to meet his club captain -- the Hawks don't have one -- and there will be a delay until he meets his new chief executive officer. The Hawks don't have one of those either. Clarkson has already met the club president, but he might meet another one before Christmas.

If he had been watching Talking Footy on Tuesday night he would have heard club power broker David Parkin call for more change at the club. Don Scott is preparing his posse. John Harvey and other members of president Ian Dicker's advisory group are plotting to overthrow the president.

The president's advisory group is an interesting concept in that Dicker appears not to take any advice from them.

Clarkson could not wish for a more stable environment to begin his senior coaching career. If Clarkson finds it difficult to negotiate his way around his new offices, Dermott Brereton would be only too happy to draw some lines in the sand that he might follow from room to room.
