7 rounds to go, Judd 3 ahead of Ricciuto who's 2 ahead of Chad Cornes and the Internet Forum Hero 2001's fave footballer, Scott West. Word is Judd's got it in the bag.

And it's goodnight Chad, we're down to two....

Congratualtions to Chris Judd, a deserving winner but I really think that Peter Matera should have been the first Eagle to win the award.

Westener (Westener), Monday, 20 September 2004 12:25 (twenty-one years ago)

If you mean 94, didn't Matera himself say he had much better years when he didn't get double figure votes? And Jako would almost definitely have won a Brownlow except of course he was too tall to play in the midfield.

I still have nightmares about Peter Matera. What was Blighty thinking putting the much slower Toby on him when he didn't play on the wing all year? Sheesh.

Well done Chris Judd but I think the guy is monumentally overrated.

Peter Matera winning a Brownlow may have been career-threatening. He might have smiled and had to miss the next season while they stuck the top half of his head back on.

(Although his acceptance speech couldn't have been worse than the one we endured from Diesel, who could always be relied on to make Pauline Hanson sound like Martin Luthur King.)

Both were all-time great players, though.

Pauline Hanson and Martin Luther King?

Let's just say Greg was slightly less of a magician with a microphone in front of him than with a football.

Well done Judd, a definite worthy winner.

West Coast may not be able to afford to keep him next year, wouldn't they love an extra $800K in their salary cap.
