Is anything finalised?
Has Otto really left Punt Road?

Will Geelong give up James Bartel or Kelly for the #7 draft pick from Collingwood, and then on-trade it to Richmond? I hope for their sake they don't. Ottens is a dud...

Bennö (Bennö), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 05:38 (twenty-one years ago)

In order:

No.

Most likely.

Not if they have an ounce of brains.

By Friday a few clubs will have pointed out to those who are from Tigerland that it was not the other clubs' faults Richmond pulled this bloke out of the hat at #2 about 26 drafts ago, nor that he has hardly developed a football smart to bless himself with since.

Richmond, as usual, are lapping up the attention that comes with holding the key to the rest of the trade period. By Friday they'll will be singing for their two Top 10 draft pics.

Sydney are going to put in a very serious bid for Ottens. I hear Davis could be in the mix.

chrisso (chrisso), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 10:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Dons gain Zantuck and Wojcinski and Cats get Ottens. Not official, but that's what I am hearing.

Sheedy and Zantuck!!!!!

Now that's a union made in heaven.

Looks like the only one to go from Brisbane will be Aaron Shattock who apparently wants to go back to Adelaide - obviously missing Church!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Bit harsh Benno, the blokes got untapped potential, just needs to pull his finger out. Im surprised the tigers are so keen on letting him go and also so keen on troy simmonds, now he is a complete dud.

jsa, Tuesday, 5 October 2004 21:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Nick Davis went back to Sydney crying to see his mum and dad. why would any club in Melbourne want the hack?

Bennö (Bennö), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 22:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Aw diddums Benno.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Tuesday, 5 October 2004 22:11 (twenty-one years ago)

· Essendon is attempting to obtain Geelong's gifted young midfielder Kane Tenace through trading Mark Johnson (whose brother David plays for the Cats) and its first draft choice No. 14 to Geelong - which would then use that choice as part of its Brad Ottens package. Richmond, however, has made it clear it is not interested in a pick above 10.

Ignore the below comment(if you hadn't already) it appears to be rubbish. Sorry.

Essendon must be self destructing, mark johnson is a gun, he'd be welcome at the power

jsa, Tuesday, 5 October 2004 22:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Johnson and a draft pick for Tenace who has played about 8 games? If they are that desperate for quick players perhaps we can offload Spriggs on them, after all, he hits the target more often than Murphy does.

Nick Davis was a soft hack when he played for the Pies, and proved no different at the Swans. I wasn't sad to see him go Fred...

Bennö (Bennö), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 00:27 (twenty-one years ago)

On a slightly different note, I saw the trade bait Collingwood had offered. If I was recruitment manager for any other club, give me one reason why I would want any of the following?

Andrew Williams (slow, soft)
Rhyce Shaw (fast, but soft and a spastic)
Stunning Steve McKee (the anti-Primus ruck rules ruined his career)
Shane Woewodin (plenty of touches, but plenty of $$$ too)
Shane O'Bree (slow, soft)
Ryan Lonie (softest of them all. Only one with less ticker is Nathan Lonie...)

Gee, anyone want to trade for one of these has beens and never wasses?

Bennö (Bennö), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 00:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, the Crows ha ha. Fair dinkum, Mick Malthouse is the best coach in the league by a mile for getting your mob into two grannies and a kick and a half away from the flag. A coaching genius!

Trade week has been a dud so far - when does it close up? Today or tomorrow???

Bennö (Bennö), Thursday, 7 October 2004 01:43 (twenty-one years ago)

The one certainty about trade week is that half your list will be mentioned as "done deals" at one time or another. The other certainty is that almost every story you hear will be wrong. Speculation, rumour and innuendo is rife but there is nothing concrete to report. What we can tell you is that Essendon recruiting manager Adrian Dodoro says the next 24 hours is when it all happens.

"The next 24 hours is when everything starts to happen but right now I’m not sure we will be involved in any deals. That of course can all change in a hurry," Dodoro said. "We have looked at getting involved in a couple but I don’t want to speculate in what capacity. Everyone is trying to do the right thing by their club and that is fair enough but the bottom line is, if you want a good player you are going to have to give up a good one."

chrisso (chrisso), Thursday, 7 October 2004 01:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Ottens name has also been linked in a move to Windy Hill in exchange for the Bombers #14 pick and Mark Bolton (bet Tiger tool Greg Miller would of loved that one!)

The Bombers have also expressed interest in Blues fat boy Lance Whitnall, but are wary of his salary and Carlton would need to pay a major proportion of his salary.

chrisso (chrisso), Thursday, 7 October 2004 01:57 (twenty-one years ago)

This week is always a dud. Wake me up on Saturday morning and show me the bit in the paper which says who my team picked up and who they lost and what draft picks (if any - I'm talking about Carltomn remember) we've got left. The rest just ain't news.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Thursday, 7 October 2004 02:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Good call Frederick.

Joel Smith to Collingwood? NOOOOOOO! Does anyone have a half decent opinion of him???

Bennö (Bennö), Thursday, 7 October 2004 23:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Not me Benno. Smith is soft as.

Smith has stayed with the Dorks. I'm happy...

Bennö (Bennö), Friday, 8 October 2004 01:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Grant Thomas says 'we don't owe Heath Black anything, if anything he owes us'.

Suppose getting through this week without at least one coach mouthing off at the back of a departing player was always too much to hope for, although this year we did at least get past Monday. We should also be thankful Black at least wasn't accused of 'HTCTR' I suppose.

But I may as well trump Prat Smith by asking this now: this time last year, 'Cornies', which idiot under your supervision stuffed Black's paperwork?
